    Evolution vs Natural Selection

OK, then. That happens all the time. It's one of the possible results of a genetic mutation. Thanks for clarifying what you mean by new information. By your definition of new information, mutations do in fact add new information to DNA.

    What is your Evolution/Creation Belief?

Because you're mixing two different questions and two different fields: science and religion. I'm an atheist, but that has nothing to do with science. The whole idea that evolution teaches or proves that God doesn't exist is a lie fed to you by dishonest Pharisees.

    Plants

How so? Its ancestors could have reproduced by another method in the past while the new method evolved. Many plants reproduce by more than one method.

    Desertification

You tell us. You started this thread whose very premise depends on your assertion that the oldest desert is 4300 years old. So, how do you know that desert is 4300 years old?

    Huzzah! for Dover science teachers

You know, when I was taking world history, never once did my teachers discuss the theory that the Holocaust never happened and was a hoax perpetrated by the worldwide Zionist conspiracy. Was that bigotry and intolerance on the part of my teachers?

St. Augustine on allowing science to inform how we read Scripture

We get the point but that doesn't make the point right. James Barr may very well be wrong about what the writers of Genesis intended to convey (I think he is) and he is definitely wrong about what other professors think. But even if he weren't, it is irrefutable that it took a lot longer...

    Dinasaurs...

Adam and Eve were the first people who the Bible talks about. They weren't the first people; there is no written record of the first human beings. Human beings existed for a million years or so before they invented written language. The first human beings appeared 65 million years or so...

    Dinasaurs...

Even a non-Christian can answer this, as long as they've read the Bible. The Bible doesn't give any dates for anything that happened in Genesis, nor does it say how much time is supposed to have passed between the major events it describes.

Thousands of people claim to have been abducted by aliens. That doesn't mean it's true.

    Huzzah! for Dover science teachers

The school board really put the teachers in a catch-22 situation. If they were to follow the school board's rule they would be breaking both the law and their employment contracts. A similar situation would be if my employer, an insurance company, ordered me to commit insurance fraud.

    Science Teacher Dismisses Evolution

Except for the part where he lied.

    We need a new word

Maybe we should call it the "evolution shibboleth". How about "shibbolution"? Whatever we decide to call it, here's the definition for what they are wrongly calling evolution: I got this from the March, 2004 feedback section of Talk Origins. What I'd like to know is who is teaching people...

Why Do Christians Want Creationism Taught In Public Schools?

Why do you think Christians should have more rights in the USA than non-Christians? Why do you think Christianity should get special status under the law? Why do you hate the first amendment? And you think the government should provide it?

A serious request for information regarding gay relationships of any sort

I think to a certain extent they are asking for acceptance, in the form of legal recognition. They are not asking for any law requiring people to be friends with gay people or let them into their church of course, but they are still asking for legal recognition of their love relationships...

For the YECs - doesn't it bother you that...

Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of the world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and the seasons, about...

Should Harry Potter be used in the classroom?

There is? News to me. Care to elaborate on that? Obviously I missed a huge part of the books.
