Setting an Atmosphere for the Presence of God

Oh I definitely agree. I've been to many churches that completely ignore God's presence in their service and opt to do things their way. Definitely agree. My point was more toward terminology - when we talk about inviting God or God coming into our worship service, we are implying that there was...

Setting an Atmosphere for the Presence of God

Yes, the Scriptures say that, but it is always an action for us. To say that we are bringing God closer is false, but rather we are aligning our hearts closer to Him. I would interpret these to be more of our realization of His presence in our lives as we draw near to Him. Regardless of how you...

Setting an Atmosphere for the Presence of God

I think something we often neglect to realize is how obscure our terminology is at times. One thing I've emphasized a few times the past few worship meetings with my local congregation is that the presence of God is always there... God is omni-PRESENT. No matter where we meet to worship or when...

True Woship Leader or something else?

Seems like there's a lot of food being thrown around the cafeteria here... ;) I'm a 20 year old youth pastor who grew up as a pastors kid. I ran from being called into ministry in my high school years, but in my 12th grade decisions, decided to honour God with one year of Bible school. Well, in...

I am a new youth leader need help

There's a really cool game I use as both an ice-breaker and all around great game. We call it, "The Couch Game." It's a bit confusing to explain, but once everyone gets it, it is AWESOME fun. You split the teams up into two recognizable teams... It must be something like gender (Boys vs...

What kind of language is tongues?

I have this theory that I can't exactly prove that the language of Heaven is tongues... It will be the language we speak when we get to Heaven. According to my unproven theory, anyways. ;) But I think that all of your answers are valid. Many Pentecostal's believe in a difference between...

    recording/mixing software

To be honest, I love Audacity. Mainly because it is free and, because of that reason, I have used it the longest. I've since worked with several other recording programs and few have been as easy to use as Audacity. With that said, I've recently purchased a Mac, and I cannot get over Garageband...

Discussion Need help to lock down core doctrine.

^ This. I think that it all starts with studying the Word. I'm horrid at doubting God and wondering why I've got these doubts, and then I remember, "Oh yeah... When's the last time I filled myself up with the Word?" When we fill ourselves with the Word, there's no room for doubt. :)

Discussion What Does It Look Like?

I think that it's a pretty loaded question ;) You've always got to put answers in their respective perspective. Loving the Lord with my whole heart is going to look different than my wife, who loves the Lord much differently than I do. What is consistent, though, is that, with all everyday...

Discussion Is it within the will of God for an individual to own a weapon?

I don't think the question is worded properly... I don't think God cares about gun ownership. What God cares about is gun stewardship. If I go around using a gun to kill people, God is obviously going to be displeased. If I use it for protective and law-abiding purposes, I don't see anything...

How do you reach unsaved students

Okay... But keep in mind that that's a very difficult concept to rationalize in today's culture. If I look at my youth group, there might be one pair of the students that actually spend time together outside of youth services. They all go to a school of 500+ and have their own social groups...

How do you reach unsaved students

Student ministry evangelism is extremely difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. The older youth leaders get, the more you've got to depend on your youth to evangelize on your behalf. I think one of the most important things in youth ministry evangelism is to teach your youth how to do it...

    Children's Church

It's all about using people according to their gifts. If you make someone who stinks at administration the secretary, you are crazy to think that they will make a great secretary. You are insane if you do it more than once and expect different results ;) Seriously though, whether it seems/feels...

What is your church doing for your youth this summer

I have taken my youth group to a Christian camp for the past 3 consecutive years, it's become a bit of an expectation from the youth now. Good thing I love camping ;) This summer we are sinking our youth building budget into a new youth group - It's been three years in the waiting. Totally...

Why is Contraception Considered Morally Acceptable?

To me, it more so comes down to consent. If both parties agree to either use or not to use contraception, I think that should be honoured. I've heard so many stories of couples that either use contraception or quit taking it without consulting their partner. It's dishonest.

The difference between praise and worship

I heard a man of God from my church state once that "Praise is pushing the forces of darkness out, and Worship is drawing the power of darkness out." Not sure of direct Scriptural support, but the concept can somewhat be pulled from above discussion.

    Discussing Acts 2:38

"Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38, NIV This verse poses a lot of questions for me, and I think it would be cool to discuss (NOT debate) some of...

    Question about Speaking in Tongues.

One of the first things you've got to note is that Pentecostal =/= Assemblies of God. Assemblies of God is a Pentecostal organization, yes... But not all Pentecostal's are Assemblies of God. So, let's run through what the Assemblies believe. Essentially, the core reason Pentecostal's are...

Do you know which Scripture says

Regardless of what people do as for scheduling, I think that faith in God needs to be the primary foundation. To me, I am going to bleed either way, no matter what day/week/month I go under the knife. If it turned out that we do bleed less at certain times (which sounds pretty outlandish as...

Main reasons to be BAPTISED in the SPIRIT ?

Awesome way of wording that. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, which Pentecostal/Charismatics believe, provides power. Look at Jesus, we have no record of Him going into His full ministry potential until He received the Holy Spirit on His baptism day. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do every good...
