Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Hi TheyCallMeDavid Yes, thanks, that is helpful and it makes sense to me. In answer to your first question, on if I have totally surrendered my life to Jesus and if I am at that point, my answer is 'no, but I have not given up'. It comes down to questions I have about Christianity (scripture to...

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Thanks TheyCallMeDavid I take from your reply that there is a "way to live" which can be aligned with God's will in the scripture and this in turn continues to be God's will on us whilst we make our choices. That makes sense and I can see how God's will can be repulsive to those who stand on...

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Hi Hammster Thanks, in a nutshell then would you say it is a good influence over a potentially negative or sinful influence which distinguishes God's will against one's own? The example below is that Joe's bros would have killed but God influenced them to honour life, even that of their seen...

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Hi By positive I meant that they aren't sinful. I imagine that you feel you were drawn towards God against your conscious wishes, is that correct?

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Hi FlawedSheep I see, so there is no sense of obligation it is always down to choice. It means that we must recognise His will over our own. Is the whisper a thought? I think I should check the scriptures for examples. :)

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Thanks Lukaris It is an honest and modest perspective. I would agree at this stage. One way I could see God's will is through our conscience or inclining us to do good or love others despite the mind telling us otherwise.

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

Hi were those several occasions always positive? Did the promptings have a flavour or distinctive difference about them than perhaps an inclination to act which wasn't divine?

Question on: "God made me do it" versus your choice to do it.

A Christian I like wrote: "If God is trying to get you to step out and do something that is uncomfortable, be sure you make the right choice." I am not clear, theologically, where God's will for us to do something and our choice to do it, starts and ends. To elaborate, how do we know God is...

How can you avoid becoming zealous or fundamental in your views?

That is a good point. Doubt is what keeps us from certainty. :)

Are cultural and national ties important?

I think we should consider it, in fact considering it brought me to this thread. My impression is that the open door, citizen of the world approach is in interest of business and economy foremost. Politicians know that to do something you need money (power) and so to increase money they look...

Is physical life really as precious as some claim?

Hi I cannot speak for God but my perception based on my current understanding of Scripture and life is that all creation is important. Sin and satan followed creation. In other words sin and satan are subject to God and not beyond Him. I think your point is that good cannot exists where sin or...

Is physical life really as precious as some claim?

Hi I think it is a great question. My understanding is that God looked at His creation and concluded that it was good (Genesis). Spirit exists in the physical creation and beyond it. So it is spirit which could be regarded as something even better than flesh. It is my experience that as we grow...

I love God but struggle with the bible and words of Christ

Each time I read or listen to the Bible I struggle to accept it. I even feel repulsed based on my existing feelings of right and wrong today. It isn't just one part, it is even the the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:31), Revelations and so on. I don't wish to list all the verses here unless...

why did adolf hitler, feel really strong desire to kill all the jews in the world?

Hi I think there is also an influence from money lending. Over the middle ages Jews are able to lend money whereas Christians were not, this may have lead to a Jewish/Christan class and religious divides, more notable in 1920s Europe when people were facing poverty and starvation. It would then...

    Why worship?

Hi Wiccan My perspective is that we are told that God is spirit (John 4:24) and man has spirit (Job 32:8). Worship is an action with a focus on that spirit. It is spirit and an innate perception of it which leads to joy and peace (Romans 8:6). It is a sense of joy and peace which does not depend...

    Overcoming doubt

Hi I might be wrong but I think that there are ways to approach the scriptures (the stories and theology you quote). I don't think you must take it literally or if you need to dwell on these topics to enjoy a relationship with God, a church and Jesus. Others may step in here, but I have seen...

    Overcoming doubt

Hi May I begin with a question, what is your reason for wishing to overcome doubt? In other words how would you benefit if doubt in a) God and b) Christianity was removed?

Is It a Sin to Have a Fetish? What Does the Bible Say?

My impression is that a fetish (or attraction to a body part) becomes a part of our self identity. It also can be connected to the feelings, so when the feeling arises we associate the desired festish. Likewise the object can provoke feelings. My opinion is that when we are young, the...
