hurricane katrina, our christlike light, is not shining

Well, in my humble opinioin, the church must handle this situation with kit gloves. This is one of those rare times where not only the eyes of the nation are on our President and Government, but also on our churches. As people of God our compassion should be a beacon, that shines in this...

hurricane katrina, our christlike light, is not shining

Greetings Brothers and Sisters, I am disgusted and appalled by my church in recent days. I'm from Houston, Texas, where all the hurricane Katrina refugees are being brought. Our church signed a contract with Red Cross to be used as a shelter in case of disaster (we signed that contract a year...

Laying down the sacrifice . .

In baseball, the play I most love to see is the "sacrifice" -- it' the only game I know where a player can forfiet his turn to advance the position of another player. It's a beautiful thing to see. We live in a society, where like baseball, the sacrifice is rarely seen. The slogan today is...

    Going to Court

I want to ask you all to pray for my family. I cannot elaborate on the details but they have to go to court. I wish to ask you all to pray for us continually. Thank you all, your brother in Christ, Matt

An end to the war on terror?

You know, I don't think the war on terror will ever be "won" -- hatred is the root cause of terrorism, and where there is hatred, there will always be terrorists.

    I have Faith but

First, I agree that it's excellent to get this off your chest and share with your brothers and sisters in Christ. That's what fellowship with believers is all about. The great thing about thinking bad thoughts is that it's not sin until we act on them. Jesus was tempted in the desert but it...

    Who do you relate to?

Forgive me for not including more characters in the Bible, but it would only let me include 10. We all should relate to Jesus more than any of them, but I thought it would be interesting to see which others we would relate to.

Can people bring the dead back to life?

I believe God can do anything. Whether that be bringing people back from the dead, or saving them from the "brink" of death. Jesus brought back to life a man who had been dead for days. Jesus said with God all things are possible.

    Luke

Reply to above post. Well, IMHO I don't think he was telling them they would have to earn it. God gives us salvation and everything we need to walk with Him by grace. On the other hand, there are certain things that we "earn" in a sense. One of them is crowns, I don't know too much about...

    Luke

Iktca, I may be wrong, but an infirmity is any type of sickness or disease that hinders the regular mobility or ability of the body to perform simple tasks. In this case, the latter part of the verse says "she was bent over" it could have been arthritis in her back, or perhaps something that...

    Who do you relate to?

Someone once said "That a great play, is one where you most relate to the characters" I created this poll out of curiosity, to see who everyone relates to most out of the 10. Have fun, and oh, explain the reason why you relate most to that person. Thanks!

    Vanity

You've brought up some very valid points, in taking some of the statements of Solomon in the book of proverbs and comparing them to ecclesiastes, there is a very notable difference, almost as if two totally different people wrote them. I believe that the wisdom Solomon is condemning and even...

    Vanity

The above quote is from Ecclesiastes. It was uttered by a man who was the wealthiest, wisest, and greatest ruler in the history of the world. Sometimes we think to ourselves "If only I had more money, my problems would go away; if only I were smarter I would be better off; if only I had more...

Muslim converting to Christian, but need help...

Take her through the 10 Commandments. The muslims accept Moses as a prophet, take her through them and show her that she is guilty of the Law. Then give her verses like "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law being made a curse for us" show her that Christ saved her. And then, let God do...

    Frontliners

The Bible often compares the Christian to a soldier. They have much of the same duties, to protect, to gaurd the truth, to fight against evil, to enhance freedom. These are all duties of a soldier. Like soldiers we have armor; a shield, a sword, a breastplate and so on and so forth. We are...
