The Democratic party desperately wants Trump to be the nominee

When was the last time anybody rioted because a Republican won the presidency? 1860?

Bidenomics - Are you personally better off financially today than you were four years ago?

lol. I'm not a truffle aficionado, but afaik they routinely go for way more than $3-500/lb.

IMF says US debt creating “significant risks” for the global economy

And yet, when given the opportunity during Trump's first two years in office when Republicans controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress, they did nothing but run up the deficit even more. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/FYFSD

Alec Baldwin accidentally shoots cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead on set.

Yeah, I read that. On the first one, I don’t know what protocol is when rounds were supposed to have been sanitized upstream. On the second, people say a lot of things when they’re stressed. Those excerpts don’t strike me as conclusive.

I was wondering that, too. I’ve heard similar complaints about wrongfully-convicted people going before parole boards.

Bidenomics - Are you personally better off financially today than you were four years ago?

Yes, I'm doing quite a bit better. I just looked at my 2019 taxes (since I just finished my 2023 taxes). My wife and I have nearly doubled our salaries since then (not adjusted for inflation; she's a little over double; I'm a little under). We still live in the same house and pay the same 3%-ish...

    Wall Street loves DJT!

I thought the borrowing fees went way down.

    Wall Street loves DJT!

Still climbing. I have no idea what's going on with this stock. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that somebody (or a group) is deliberately manipulating it. Not seeing any chatter on WSB, though.

    What is different?

This. I think large segments of both sides have an inaccurate view of the other, but IME, the left is generally quite a bit more accurate than the right - partly because the far left has a smaller market share than does the far right, partly because left-wing media doesn't make as much money...

    What is different?

Let's all back up a second, folks. @Hazelelponi's comments aside, that's not what the flag means. Or, at least that's not necessarily what it means. "Give me liberty or give me death" does not mean "I must have liberty or I will die." It means "If I don't have liberty, I would prefer to die."...

The True Force Behind the ‘Censorship Industrial Complex’

I love getting lectures about misinformation and "wrongthink" from a crowd that both promoted the Jan 6 lies and tried to boycott Bud Light when they hired a trans spokesperson.

I’m only going where the evidence leads me. What quality journalistic outlets does the right have other than WSJ, the Dispatch, and the Economist? Everything else is dumpster fires of propaganda marketing to smooth-brained reactionaries. Some factions at Fox try to do okay reporting, sometimes...

I missed your earlier post. I assumed we were talking about spending, not how much was being added to the debt.

IRS Numbers Shred Biden’s “Fair Share” Platitudes

ok, how's this: You're not communicating anything. Because you've offered so much positive value? Why don't you take a second, go back and re-read the thread? My first entry was pointing out that the author made some bad calculations that undermined some of his claims. That's it. Your...

Every outlet has their moments. Which would've been, what? 10 years ago? That wasn't the entire budget. That was just a temporary measure to avoid a shutdown: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/03/23/government-shutdown-spending-bill-vote/

IRS Numbers Shred Biden’s “Fair Share” Platitudes

The whole paragraph about the highway was the example. I was talking about individuals, but the same principle applies to corporations, too. If that's what we're actually spending, yes.
