    picture taken?

I destroyed every last picture of me in my awkward teen years. I was one of those really dorky kids with the raging acne, bad hair, big coke bottle glasses...*shudder*. Although not wanting your picture taken isn't limited to the teen years. My 72 yo mother in law won't let us take her...

    What is your dream

My dream for my marriage/family - already living it. My career dream - to win the lottery so I don't have to go to that place ever again. Not likely to happen but I can dream!! :p

Going To Church - Important? Not?

Me too! The very first time I set foot in our new church last year it just felt like home. The messages in the sermons, the attitudes and actions of the congregation, it all just drew me in and made me feel like I was home. I look forward to Sunday mornings now.

    how did you meet

Aww Angeldove that's so sweet! Ours was a "shotgun" engagement. We had been planning to get married and had picked out rings already, but DH wanted to wait for a special time to actually propose. As it was, my dad passed unexpectedly from a heart attack and my mom's health had deteriorated...

10 year wedding Anniversary coming up

We didn't do anything for our 10 year. I think maybe we went out for dinner at Applebees. Romantic, I know! Lol. If you want to have your dad walk you down the aisle, DO IT!! I wish I could have had that, but my parents were both gone before I got married. Seize this opportunity while you can. :)

    how did you meet

Back in the late 80s the thing for teenagers to do in our town was cruise Main street in our cars, and gather in various parking lots to talk & hang out (gas was cheap then!). I first met DH in the parking lot of an auto parts store. I didn't believe him when he told me his name, because he does...

Going To Church - Important? Not?

Our pastor brought up this topic not too long ago, and I really love what he had to say. As the church is the body of Christ, and Christ is the head of the church, you can't have one without the other. A head needs a body and vice versa.

A prayer for a struggling friend

HI all, if you would, please include my dear friend Vanessa in your prayers. She has been struggling so much lately - the loss of her son this summer, he was in his early 20's and suddenly passed away from a heart condition. She is also struggling through the aftermath of a painful divorce...

    Scientific Noah's flood.

I stumbled across the book not too long ago: The Bible, Genesis & Geology I originally got it because at the time it was free, and I had never heard much about the "Gap Theory" before so was kind of curious. But coincidentally enough I am just to a point in the book where the author is...

To all those I may have scandalized here

Hi Forge, I don't think you've ever scanalized me, but I just wanted to say that it took a lot of courage to post this. You are not weak, quite the contrary! There is no shame in getting medical help for a medical condition. You are doing what you must to be healthy. I hope you are able to...

What do you do when your mad at your spouse

If I get annoyed or angry at him, I do the same as Seeingeyes - get away, by myself, so that I can think about the issue and come to a place of calmness. I don't want to inadvertently say something I'll regret in the heat of anger, so it's best if I have time to cool off. Then, if after...

A set of philosophical questions for everyone:

Is there a reason for suffering? Yes, I do believe that sometimes there is a reason, although we may not realize it at the time. Why do people suffer? I wish I knew. Why do people make other people suffer? Let's face it - some people are evil, some people are selfish, some people are just...

It Takes Too much money to do this

familysearch.org is free and is excellent. I would suggest looking at what they have available online first, then if they have microfilms of records from where you're researching, order them (you have to view them at a family history center, located in an LDS church, but they are all over the...

Anyone think Genealogy is very important? (+my background)

I love genealogy too. I have done extensive genealogies on both sides of my family and I have quite a vast mixture of nationalities. I always assumed I was western Euopean/Scandinavian but I found out I also have Croatian ancestors, from the little island of Solta. How cool is that! So far...

    Has anyone done Weight watchers?

I did after I had my first child. I loved it! Lost the pregnancy weight +more. Now I find that limiting carbs works best for me. Eating a high protein/vegetable rich diet and limiting breads and processed foods. I used the south beach diet book as a guide.

Rick Warren's 40 Days in the Word

Hi! Has anyone taken this course? Just curious about what you thought of it. Our church is going to start some small study groups based on this & I am eager to get started!
