Introduce yourself if you are new to the Seventh-day Adventists section of CF.

Greetings Stella! Welcome to the forums! Sadly over the years on forums like this I have heard many who have been put in your same situation, whether it be those who find there way into SDA or those who find themselves into other denomination from the one their family holds to. It is unfortunate...

    Prayers for Honorthesabbath & family

Although I do not know Honor personally or even had a conversation on here, she will be in my families prayers. May God comfort here and her family. I look forward to to a time when we won't have to deal with these sicknesses and diseases.

Another good book I have read recently is Operation Blueprint by Ivor Myers. He also has a set of study guides that just came out a few months ago.

The Great Controversy from the Angels' Point of View

Sort of reminds me of a book that came out a few years ago called "Watching The War." Not sure who wrote it but it took the view of the great controversy through the eyes of one of the unfallen beings.

    Is Saturday Sabbath Observance Essential?

Although he is a Sabbath-keeper, I am not sure if he is an SDA. His website mentions nothing of it and it appears he is part of a hebrew roots movement. you can find his web sight by searching reggie whiddon olive branch.

    Is Saturday Sabbath Observance Essential?

Yeah that was my original search on google. Typed in pastor reggie wooden huntsville al. It came up with a Grace Memorial church or something like that at the first link. He was a guest speaker about half way down the page; My Sabbath Testimony - Pastor Reggie Whiddon. Search that name and found...

    The Sanctuary Debate

I actually think it may stem from the fact that so many Adventists don't really have a good grasp of the Sanctuary message. Or any of our distinct messages for that matter. I give a Bible study after church a couple times a month and it is amazing how many of our own members have no idea what or...

    how do you identify yourself?

I tell people outright that I am a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian. Because in essense that is what people are asking; "what church do you belong to?" I rarely get people who ask what religion I am. If we are talking enough for them to ask those type of questions they can already identify me as...

    Origin of the Egyptian Obelisk

I am not meaning to sound flippant about it, but what does it really matter whether we believe it was a cross or an X or a piece of wood. It was the person who hung from it that should get our attention. We need to follow Him. He is no longer on it, nor is He buried in a tomb. The only...

What's a typical SDA service Like? And other stuff

Hi Jody! It's great that you are so enthusiastic! As for a typical SDA church service...I would say it is pretty much just like any other denomination I have been to. At my church we usually start at 930am singin 3-4 hymns and then off to Sabbath school until about 1045am. Service starts at 11am...

What do you do on your Sabbath?

Usually on Friday night we open our home to a Bible study (normally it would just be family but we now have a neighbor and her two teen sons). Then up early to wrangle the kids out of bed and off to Sabbath school. My wife helps in the cradle roll room and I switch off and on with the adult...

    New Service Format?

So, the other day I was emailed our next quarters preaching schedule and attached was a new format for our services. Everything is pretty much the normal way except for now at the end of the sermon we are to ask the congregation 3 questions. They will then break up into smaller groups to discuss...

    *sigh*

Omega - I have been where you are and can appreciate your feelings. Just know that God is bigger than the problems of this life and He will work it out. Since I have learned of the Sabbath I have hit both high and low. I have gone from keeping it fervently (legalistically) to not keeping it...

    I Pierced My Ears

I think sometimes we also lose sight of the fact that Sabbath was also made for fellowship. Not just fellowship with God, but with each other. Who all shared in the first Sabbath? God of course, but Adam and Eve as well. They spent their time together. Not just Adam and God or Eve and God. But...

Spiritual Formation creeping into the Adventist church.

Can't be all gloom-n-doom all the time unless you're a Cubs fan. I am still jesting of course, because in the back of my mind I do tend to root for them since they are the hometown team. I grew up with one of their minor league teams here in town. Although the White Sox were my team of choice...
