    That is local data from the middle of the Greenland ice sheet, not global data. Also note that it ends 95 years before present, and that before present in all geological data means before 1950, not 2000 as the graph says. So it ends in 1855 and a lot has happened since then.

    Yes, that sounds promising. Although desalination is no silver bullet - keep in mind that the salt and other nasty byproducts that are extracted from the water has to be taken care of somehow. ETA: Doh, @JackRT beat me to it.
