    Catholic Converts

Moishe and Sol are passing a Catholic Church and see a sign that reads: "Convert to Catholicism, $50 Cash." Moishe turns to his friend Sol and says, "Hey, I'm going to try it." He enters the church and returns a few minutes later. "So, did you convert? What was it like?" Sol eagerly asks. "It...

Lets talk about the supposed vow of chastity of Mary

Protestant view: Joseph: "Say baby, I know you concieved the Son of God by the power of the Holy Spirit and all that, but a man needs to get his freak on, you know what I mean?" Mary: "Oh you (giggles)!"

So I missed the Fr. Corapi update on him leaving the priesthood

I have always doubted Fr. Corapi's act, especially his self-described nefarious background, the peculiar details of which he always seemed to me to be overly eager to share with everyone. My wife has always been a huge fan, so I've watched alot of his stuff. My opinion of him has been and...

Is God capable of growth and/or change?

God is infinite. He is capable of all change without ever changing at all; a being of infinite complexity and sublime simplicity. But He has promised us that with regard to His dealings with we His children He will remain constant in His love and mercy.

    What IS a REAL man?

Certainly true, although his first inclination was to cover-up. Owning up to sin takes courage, and no doubt David had courage. That was probably his distinguishing characteristic. I never meant to convey otherwise. But, like any man, it was not always his first recourse.

    What IS a REAL man?

I think David was a man who dearly wanted to love and serve God, and be beloved of his people. But he was also an impulsive man of fierce appetites to whom sin came all too easy. Sounds like "every man" to me.

Homily of the Day: Have You Stoned Yourself or Someone Else?

You may be mistaking love for like. I hardly think Jesus meant that we had to be chummy with people whose behavior we abhor. He simply meant that we cannot judge them personally for that behavior lest we commit sin ourselves, and that we ought to respond to them with the respect due any child...

"This went against everything we've been taught": Protestant says he saw purgatory...

That's right. There's this one guy in the Bible who was dead like four days and then supposedly came back to life. Strange coincidence, the same guy a lot of people thought had something to do with the first guy's coming back is said to have died and come back not too long afterward. What are...

    God saved me again

I pray you find a job, Josh. I've been there more than once so I know how scary and humiliating it can be. Don't give up hope and go out into the hidden job market. If there is someplace you want to work keep pestering them until they have no choice but to hire you or set up with a cot in the...

Flip-flops and tank tops at Mass? Whatever happened to decorum?

Nicely said. I try to wear only my very best flip-flops to mass (Old Navy, $9.95) and my classiest wifebeater (Ozzy Osbourne framed by a flaming pentagram).

I like the catholic church. Why do you seem so arrogant online?

It's a way of weeding out the wannabes and dilletantes. It is not a recruiting drive. My point is that you can become a catholic in other ways. One way is simply by asking the right questions about the faith in the presence of a priest, the most important being "how much do I make this out for...

Bishop Aquila urges sacrament of confirmation before First Eucharist

Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are all sacraments of initiation. The second reinforces or "confirms" the first with the grace of a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. One must be baptized to recieve Communion, but need not be confirmed to do so, ergo, they are separate sacraments...
