    The Paul Haters

Then I really don't know what's forced or deceptive about it. You don't seem to know what the word stigmatize means. It means "to set some mark of disgrace or infamy upon." You can stigmatize a small group or a large group. Telling me that the law condemned pagan practices is beside the point...

    The Paul Haters

You seem to go on to equate this with temple prostitution. Are you saying temple prostitution was rape? I mean, let's not kid ourselves. The law wasn't meant to protect men from sexual slavery. It was meant to stigmatize gays. I can understand that you, personally, don't agree with the law of...

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

The Jewish view of purification is interesting. It's a lot like the Catholic purgatory; much to the dismay of Protestants. I do think he's a little naive to say that annihilation is a bad thing.

That's certainly more tame than the kitchen counter. :D

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

Yes, it would be hard for someone under the law to see past it. :amen:

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

That's your assumption. I didn't say anything about hell.

I don't know what you mean by forcing/deceiving or by woman's bed. It would be difficult to deceive for very long. The clause "as a woman" presupposes that good men only have sex with women. This should be obvious. The words "in bed" are there because... people ordinarily have sex in a bed...

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

The law of Moses says that everyone who dies on a tree is cursed of God; the cross is an offense in Judaism. Only Christians saw the cross differently. It's true that many of the first believers were Jewish; they were Jewish in ethnicity. They were Christians religiously.

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

I repeat: Judaism was not a religion of works-righteousness. The places in Romans that talk about boasting have to do with election, not law. Paul's wasn't trying to encourage immorality, which is what you mean by lawlessness; that you think this is what lawlessness is shows you still need a law...

    The Paul Haters

This isn't a solution; it only pushes the problem back a little farther. The law of Moses says to kill two men who have sex; this must refer to gay people, even if the category of gay didn't exist back then. Paul, unfortunately, also meant to condemn gay people.

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

It has nothing to do with righteousness. This is the Reformation view of Judaism, which we know is false; Judaism was not a religion of works-righteousness. Paul said that the law was a failure without Christ, period; his focus was only on its failure.

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

Underlining and bolding words doesn't explain anything to me. Romans 7:6 NIV But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. The contrast between the law and the Spirit is...

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

Paul didn't say anything about following the commandments of Moses because of love. The law of Moses was a heavy yoke, but Jesus' yoke was light. Love was an alternative to the law of Moses; it was its opposite. The Pharisees made this clear when they pushed the law to its natural conclusion.

Do you agree that Christians should obey all 613 commandments?

I was responding to your post where you said the law wasn't a yoke; in Paul's thought the law was certainly a yoke.

How do you understand unfulfilled Bible prophecy?

The Old Testament says that Jerusalem will be an eternal seat of David. It says that all the nations will come to Zion. Yet, the Christian revelation is that Jesus was a carpenter; if he had any royal blood, it didn't make a difference in his life. The Christian revelation is that God will...

    Once saved, always saved?

Hi CaliforniaJosiah  I've seen a few of your posts; I think you have the right idea about a lot of things. However, posting so many verses without commentary might be confusing. I don't know how some of the verses apply to OSAS.

The Chicago Statement is used by a lot of Protestants; it defines inspiration as inerrancy. Article IX. We affirm that inspiration, though not conferring omniscience, guaranteed true and trustworthy utterance on all matters of which the Biblical authors were moved to speak and write...
