HOPE for the weary (message on fear)

Listened to this today and wept. Incredible message, especially for those who are prone to much fear, like myself. Be blessed... Go to OnePlace.com and go to Truth for Life with Allistair Begg. The message I listened to was "So Do Not Fear" (part 2). It is also a free download. =) "So do...

    No fear, only love

Dear Pixart, You are overthinking this. And I say that with compassion because I was exactly where you are a couple of years ago. Praise God, He has brought me through it and He can do the same for you. A couple of thoughts I hope will help... =) God loved you and chose you before the world...

Excerpt from my manuscript; "Strivings Within"

Mitzi, I love reading everything you have to write and am excited to read your book! You have really been through it and back and it seems like the Lord is going to use you to do great things and help a lot of people. Thanks for always sharing what God has taught you and that there is hope...

    The Beast of Indecision

Hello, I have dealt with OCD in all its forms, but most recently, it really attacks my ability to make any kind of decision with confidence. This happens mostly in the context of buying...anything. I agonize over the decision in the first place then obsess about it for hours on end wondering...

My Book and my Facebook page.

Mitzi, You are such an inspiration and a trophy of His grace. This just encourages me that there is freedom available and a life beyond the enslavement. Soldier on! You are, after all, the only one who can tell your story! Thank you for your courage to be transparent and provide hope for...

    Insight on Fear

This is such great insight I hope more people read it. Thank you for sharing what God has shown you. The only thing that will rescue us is knowing the truth...and God graciously reveals it - sometimes in little nuggets and sometimes in great revelations. Anyways, this was very helpful. Bless...

Through fasting and prayer, Jesus set me free from OCD.

Thank you for sharing that with us. It is an encouraging reminder that the Lord wants us to be well and whole.

    Stuck

Thank you guys for your responses and thank you, Mitzi, for sharing so much detailed help. Many people on this forum seem to advocate not fighting against the thoughts, but letting them run through. How do you know the balance between when it's time to take a thought captive by countering it...

    Bipolar, OCD and blasphemous thoughts

Wow. You guys are speaking my language. Me too! (see below) "I've read some of Grantley Morris' material on dealing with blasphemous thoughts, and have a book on OCD written by a secular psychologist. Both seem to advocate not fighting against the thoughts, but letting them run through. How...

    Stuck

Hi guys, I really appreciate all of you on this forum. It is a comfort to read that I am not alone and even more of a comfort to see people still walking with the Lord with this beast of OCD. I often struggle with the thought, "Someone with a mind like mine cannot be a Christian." I am...

GOD i WANT TO GET CLOSER!!

Mitzi, I appreciate your words...."Remember... God is pleased when we are walking toward Him, even if we stumble along the way... we stumble within His hand.. not out of it." Here's a verse that encourages me... "If I should say, "My foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me...

    ned advice

I agree that the Psalms are a great place to start. Even Psalm 62:8 says, "Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge"...in other words, be real with God. Tell Him exactly what's on your heart. And remember, our prayers will never be "perfect."...

    Irrational Fears

But what if the thoughts are fears of losing your faith/not believing anymore? Just dismiss those as well?

    needing some input

Thank you both for always sharing encouraging words. Please pray for me...I am still in the Word but sometimes compulsively. Like when I am praying or reading the Bible I feel okay but when I go to work (and cannot be in the Word for 8 hours) I struggle tremendously with bombarding thoughts...

i havent been here in a while

Tyield1102 - one more thing...I feel the same way. There is nothing I want in this life besides God...like you said. That can only mean God has planted His seed of faith and the Holy Spirit in our hearts. I need to tell this to myself. But the fear can be overwhelming that I just cycle back...

    needing some input

Even if our OCD is affected, we should continue to persevere in prayer and Bible reading, right? It can be difficult but God promises His Word doesn't return void and that His Word transforms lives so I have to believe it. I pray for the day when the Word of God eclipses my feelings...

i havent been here in a while

Yes, it helps to know I'm not alone. Please, anyone who has come through this, share how you deal with the unbelieving, irreverent thoughts. I am praying, in the Word, going to church...but they are still always there...esp. the fear that I've lost my faith...

    Blaspheme Holy Spirit..... need help

ShelovesChrist...how did you get to this place? I pray to come to this point! I'm encouraged that you struggled similarly and have come through it. I have good days and bad days. So much so I feel like 2 different people! On the good days I feel close to God and like His Word is alive in...

i havent been here in a while

Wow...ShelovesChrist and GraceAlone...good posts. I am encouraged by where you are at in your faith, even with the OCD. I pray I get there, too. But for now, I feel like I relate to Caty's experience more. How do you handle the thoughts of unbelief when they come (the "I don't believe this...
