    Need help understanding third point...

I still don't understand what he's trying to say with that last point. I was hoping someone would break it down a bit. I don't know what my problem is, but I can't seem to follow the guy's train of logic.

    Need help understanding third point...

Read below.. In his final point, I don't understand how the person concluded the following from what he wrote... "So to accept that sub-atomic events do not correspond with causality would be tantamount of denying our own experience!" Can someone explain the link? Do Spontaneous Events in...

Question for Muslims about Noah and the Flood

الدرر السنية - الموسوعة الحديثية I did a search... I looked through the first few pages... no time to go through all... so far I don't see any Sahih Hadith indicating that all population descends from Noah's sons.

Question for Muslims about Noah and the Flood

One cannot determine this from definitive/authoritative text (Qur'an and authentic Hadith). Based on Scripture, it could be either way. Since I would expect scientific evidence for a worldwide flood, and there is none that I am aware of, I am more inclined to believe that it was local, and God...

How many are ex-christians and vice versa

I see... I read the link you sent... it's the phrase "et asher", not the word alone, that's being discussed... cool

How many are ex-christians and vice versa

The word 'et' is found in about every other Hebrew sentence. It's a definite object marker, as in: bara Elohim et hash-shamayim (God created the heavens) (created)(God)(et)(the)(heavens) "The heavens" is a definite direct object of "created", so you need an "et" before it.

    My new found faith.

You over analyze things too much, boy. :) Of course, I don't believe in the majority of what you have up there, being the literal, non-mystical sort, as you know :), but I do personally love how the Qur'an starts with the concept of "Hamd" (praise/thanks). I do believe that it's having an...

awitch.... LoAmmi... people on east coast

I'm really glad you're both well. As long as everyone is okay, all else just takes time. Hope it isn't too long, though, till things get back to normal.

Does being a member of your religion keep you free from sin?

I might also want to add that entertaining negative thoughts is a bad idea, because by doing so, one is way more likely to have those thoughts influence words and actions, for which a person will be held accountable.

Does being a member of your religion keep you free from sin?

Personally, I have no desire to punch anybody whatsoever... lol... but if someone had such thoughts, they would not be held accountable for them as long as they refrained from acting upon them, in my opinion. When I'm thinking 'sin', I'm thinking accountability. To stop oneself from acting upon...

Does being a member of your religion keep you free from sin?

@ Booko... in my belief system, every son/daughter of Adam sins repeatedly, as specifically mentioned in Hadith, including me.

Does being a member of your religion keep you free from sin?

"Thoughts" and "intentions" are two different things to me. Thinking about how good it would feel to punch someone you're mad at and refraining from doing so is virtuous. However, actually planning and intending how you will carry out the act is sinful, even if something external happened to...

    Common Muslim Misconception

Happens plenty in Muslim countries too (though probably a little less), but it's done in secret most of the time. Most people are way more worried about what people say than whether it's actually right or wrong. I am a 100% fan of Islam... but I am sick and tired of Muslims acting like that by...

    The Grave

Have you looked into the various fiqh opinions and their evidences for both of those things? I do tend to support donating what I can to help others, and if I recall correctly, when they discussed the issue of organ donation in a fiqh council (which had scholars from all around the world) some...

'allah' Blessed Israel More Than Other People

Isn't that the case with pretty much any group? I would say that the only reason Jews are sometimes given the strongest chastisement, is because, they "should know better" (generally speaking).

'allah' Blessed Israel More Than Other People

Who cares? Was it ever even about that? Allah blessed the Children of Israel above others with knowledge (prophets) and opportunity to make a difference in the world (dominion). Anyone who actively seeks knowledge and uses it to work toward a better world is a true carrier of that...

    Wisdom From Your Religion

Yeah.. talking about someone behind their back is given THE most gruesome symbolism in the Qur'an... one is told to imagine eating at the raw flesh of their brother (cannibalism).. something absolutely detestable.. and thinking of how talking about someone negatively when they are absent is like...

    Genesis 1

Excuse my ignorance, but were those translated from Hebrew manuscripts or the Septuagint (translation of translation)... just curious. This is what I'd learned before: [Genesis] 1:1 - In the beginning
