God as an "Excuse" for what we don't know?

When listening to debates, or hearing opinions, there are usually 2 re-occuring things that come up. The first thing is that a theist may be asked a question about God, be it scientific or philosophical, and the theists response usually goes something like "God is outside of our understanding."...

    Why The Four Gospels?

Why are the Gospel's we revere and believe to be true and special, the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Why do we not accept the other ones such as The Gospel according to Peter and Judas.

Christ though me rather than in me?

The more popular thing I have been told by many people from a more "evangelical" point of view I guess, is that you live your life with Christ in you, and live your life for him. But I have heard also the idea of dieing to yourself, and God living through you. You actually dying spiritually...

    Stop Trying to explain Sin

Was sin created? or is it just the lack there of goodness. Cold is the lack there of hot. So if someone goes completely outside of God's will it is the lack there of all goodness. Each sin is going outside of God's will a bit.

    The Doctrine of Hell

What about 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath ; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Doesn't bother me who starts a religion, I follow God -> Jesus, not Christianity. Also, reading through Isaiah & it's prophecies really helps you understand Jesus legitimacy.

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

I've read lots of the works of Paul and I rarely have a big problem with what he teaches, I'm just re-reading Romans because I have only read small bits of it in the past.. I don't see how telling us to love as his core message is taking away from Jesus's core message of telling us to love 1...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Jesus saying it himself: John 8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM He, you will die in your sins.” John 8:58- Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 10:30-33 - Jesus answered them, “I...

    Is it okay to doubt?

In the New Testament a something that often bugs me is the whole 'having faith and not doubting'. Here are two examples: James 1:6 "ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." Matt 21: 21 21Jesus replied...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Reading through Romans again.. Paul seems pretty legit, but I've ran in to some things that bother me such as not associating and having fellowship with non-believers, and a few other things.. It's like a church service.. seems inspiried by God and generally correct, but the person preaching is...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Hey, so people were saying that it's not really the choice between Jesus and Paul to trust, but more of which Jesus.. I think there were like 3? "versions" of Jesus that people believe in. Could someone point me towards a link or just give a short summary of what these 3 are about, history...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

It is far fetched, I took arguments that people have used against me and tried to make something near-plausible out of it. One of the reasons I believe what I believe, because, most alternatives are far-fetched.

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Earlier on in this thread, it was raised that I was only saying "what-if?"s and that i should put forward some sort of theory or idea of what I think could have happened, so I decided to do that. I still have a lot to learn which leaves me prone to silly errors and contradictions, but this is...

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Ebia raises a great point with the gospels being written after Paul's events. You say that Jesus way is right but that Paul's is astray.. But if Paul was astray and led the church astray and his traveling partner wrote one of the gospels, why would you trust what Jesus said?

Did Paul Start Christianity? Change Jesus' Claims?

Well glad to hear that you don't think that. My Jesus is just as much an enigma in my mind as he is in yours, it just has to do with how we interpret it, your interpretation just happens to be more mainstream than mine. By the way, I believe he was the son of God, and died and rose again, just...
