I think God does speak to me, but I've never heard a booming male voice giving me commands. I think he speaks through serendipitous experiences like seeing the right bible verse at the right time, or talking to someone. And yes, sometimes it's just a feeling that I am choosing the right path.

Years ago I used to give up a food item but it always had to do with weight loss, not anything faith related, especially since I was atheist at the time. This year I am doing one random act of kindness or good deed. It's a lot harder than giving up chocolate.

I went to the church I currently attend after the desicion was made to let in the gay people. It was a large part of the reason I gave them a chance at all.
