What liberal beliefs/leanings brought you here?

I don't believe in universal salvation. If the destiny of the wicked and the righteous is the same, what was the point of all the suffering? I do believe however that eternal life will be gifted to all who do the right thing, and not based on any mental beliefs or religious rules.

    priests, pastors and self defense

Defense of an innocent from harm is a loving action. It may be one of these actions that result in our passing from death of our soul as the result of our own sin to life that is gifted to us by Jesus.

    priests, pastors and self defense

I don't think Jesus telling Peter to put up his sword on this occasion was a general command for all time to everyone not to ever use a sword on human beings.

The book of Enoch, your thoughts?

I don't see it displeasing God for us to seek Him. The bible is simply a book that men determined to be acceptable by vote. Majority does not determine truth. I don't find much in the book of Enoch to interest me, but it was quoted I believe by Jude.

Peter seemed to be ready with a sword on him. You cannot strike back in the extreme case when it is justified if you do not have the weapon to strike back with.

Might work sometimes, does not work every time. It is simply not true in every situation that if you do not show fear you will not get attacked.

Who is your inspiration to be liberal?

I was raised in a very conservative Church of Christ background and attended a Church of Christ college. One of the professors at that college encouraged me to think out of the box and this led to my not agreeing with hardly anything taught by the Church of Christ. I did however continue to...

The future of Christianity in Europe?

The left behind books are fiction and the interpretation of Revelation literally is mistaken. The greatest tribulation we can experience is the death of our soul. Ezekiel 18 says the only way that happens is through our failing to obey the command to love others, our own sin. If we have...

    Close to God?

I agree. I see being separated from God when we are hurting people as an example of not being close to God. When we are doing something that we know is the right thing to do, that feeling is being close to God.

Not sure about hanging onto religion anymore

I agree the bible is not inerrant. I agree most of man made religious organizations turn off thinking people. However I continue to believe there is a loving Creator that created us for life, not death. To believe otherwise it seems to me would result in the hopeless meaningless existence of...

What liberal beliefs/leanings brought you here?

I was exiled here and barred from other forums because I do not agree with Calvinism. I tend to let everyone around me know what my theology is. No I do not keep them to myself.
