Why is pro-life so Christian in identity

Personally, I think most Christians who are pro-life, just want to appear like they are better people, it's just posturing though really. If they really looked into the facts, they'd see a foetus younger than 3 months wont have a nervous system to feel any suffering, and even if it has got a...

Is being patriotic the sign of an idiot?

I think so. What do you think? Wouldn't catch me dead displaying my country's flag anywhere! :sorry:

Unseen Gaza - Balancing the news with decency

Was watching an interesting programme last night on the problems journalists are facing with the Gaza conflict. You can watch it here, although I'm not sure if non-UK viewers will be able to watch without setting up some sort of proxy or something. It's called Dispatches: Unseen Gaza. Anyway...

Would You Witness A Murder, Given A Choice?

If I'm honest, I might do, I'd find it pretty sick and disturbing to watch, but sometimes morbid curiosity takes over. The worst thing I've seen on the net were those beheading videos a couple of years ago, not pleasant, and it made you wonder how a human being could do something like that to...

Who is it safe to make fun of?

:) Scousers and Rafa are fair game. Theese are facts, not opinions.

Who is it safe to make fun of?

I was just thinking how it's probably much more of a social "no no" to mock religions such as Islam, or Jews or Hindus, but Christianity is still a bit of a free for all as far as jokes are concerned. The reason I think, is in general, it is doesn't seem so bad to mock either the powerful or...

    Dissuading New Christians.

Well... he's probably a bit fragile at the moment (that's what it sounded like anyway from your description), so I wouldn't give your opinion unless he asks for it. I think it's fine to humour him for now, it's not really condescending or untruthful, it's just holding back your opinion which...

    Three Boxes

Box 2 obviously. It says bliss, that's all you need to know. For those that say you need to feel pain to feel bliss, that might be right for all I know, but it doesn't really matter as box 2 states you will get bliss so anything else is irrelevant.

    Dissuading New Christians.

If he seems happy, then leave him to it <staff edit>. It's not very nice not being happy. Personally, I think happiness is more important than "truth". I couldn't see how I could take up Christianity myself as I'm too sceptical, but if I could and I thought it would make me happy then I would.

Would lyrics like this fly in this day & age

Well good for you! It's hard to imagine you would have lived in that bad of an area though if your dad was a cop, but maybe it's different in America. I don't really know much about you, but keep in mind, your Dad (and/or others) probably would have been some sort of influence on you, not...

Is jcook922 a racist? He doesn't like hip hop Doesn't like baggy trousers and back to front baseball caps Doesn't like unintelligible, broken English And even his Dad's an LAPD cop!! No further questions, your honour! Nah, I'm joking, don't think it makes you a racist, I think all...

Would lyrics like this fly in this day & age

It's all very well if you're middle class or live in a decent area to condemn or stereotype every kid you don't like the look of. For kids though who actually live in the middle of bad areas, a lot of them dress a certain way because everyone else does. I didn't grow up in the best of...

True, it is subjective, I was talking in a general sense though, there is normally a consensus of who has a physically attractive face and who hasn't, not everyone will agree with the consensus though, that goes without saying!

    Are Christians Judged Unfairly?

To be honest, people don't normally announce their religion in my country, it's normally met with a roll of eyes if they do. This reminds me of Tony Blair: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7780980.stm I love my country sometimes, that are leaders are too shy to talk about it! :D We don't need...

To whom is a country responsible for?

Quite simply, they're responsible to their voters. Fortunately lots of voters are worried about things that don't specifically effect their own country, like the environment, famine and so on, and so too are some politicians (maybe).

I think there is probably more pressure, but still not that much pressure. I don't really do a lot to make myself look good apart from buy clothes that fit me and exercise sometimes... even then, that's not too look, so there can't be that much pressure on me, but that's just my own...

    Sexy 2

All in all, I don't see anything really wrong with wanting to make yourself look better as long as it doesn't become unhealthy, no one says anything if you want to make yourself more intelligent. Presentation is important to virtually every person in the world, only a fool would say otherwise...
