    Changing Fundemental Beliefs

I think the idea that we are babtized into the SDA church and not the Christian church is a disgrace. JM

Are we all Adventist, coming together as SDA's in one Adventist Forum.

That is an imoportant point Aza. We come at things from an adventist background, even if we end up all over the place. JM

Interesting Article: The Gospel is for the Broken

By the way, I definitely agere with the title of the thread, and I also agree with some parts of the quoted message. JM

Interesting Article: The Gospel is for the Broken

I don't think this is correct, I think certain words of Christ are more relevant: 3And He spoke many things to them in (D)parables, saying, "Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5"Others fell on the...

Are we all Adventist, coming together as SDA's in one Adventist Forum.

I think it is too broad in focus. While it should be broad in participants, it shouldn't be broad in purpose (even if it sometimes tends to, due to the broadness of the participants). JM

    Age Difference?

I think it is fine as long as everyone goes into the relationship with open eyes. I know that I would have to be sure that it was for my wifes best if I was 20 years older than her... she would be alone probably for a while. JM

I am going to assume that people have read it, but it is here: Lesson 10 Basically it is about Balaam. Note that he is one of the last people, other than the 3 wisemen (I think) who are part of the magicians/etc but still servants of God. These were common in Abrahams time, but seem to die out...

Any aspirations to write a book?

Yes. One idea is to write about scientific assumptions, many people don't know what is assumed in science and it creates misunderstandings. Also included would be the scientific process. A companion piece (maybe in the same book) would be on religious assumptions, the sets of assumptions would...

Are we all Adventist, coming together as SDA's in one Adventist Forum.

The idea is the idea behind sabbath school classes, which are some of what allows the church to function on a broad basis. I am not sure if it needs such a huge proliferation of subfora though. Like the sabbath school lessons/etc. We can just have that as part of the two sabbath school...

Re: The increasingly later age of marriage, both societally and for myself

They (and I) are bitter because of the (implied?) rejection. The frustration with not finding someone doesn't make people bitter. It is the fact that most of us at my age (and earlier) have been rejected a lot... (directly or indirectly) especially the ones who have been single all (or the...

Re: The increasingly later age of marriage, both societally and for myself

No, it is focusing on your own pleasure/etc. More and more people aren't getting married because it isn't seeking after their own happiness. There is too much sacrifice in a real marriage, one where their parties don't just divorce in a year/etc when some trouble comes. Marriage is about...

Re: The increasingly later age of marriage, both societally and for myself

If a woman is much over 37, and a guy much over 50 (or something, I don't know the age as well for this), the rates of birth defects/etc start to get much worse. The rate for birth defects for a woman who is 40 is the same as for brother/sister incest. If you can, start your family earlier. JM

Re: The increasingly later age of marriage, both societally and for myself

People focus too much on their own happiness in marriages instead of important things like: Creating a family Having kids Supporting their spouse Giving love to another/etc The reason why I haven't been in a relationship is because women aren't interested in what I want to happen. And if I am...
