Some things you guys are scared of/fear

Ugh, my fear of heights is strong enough to make me nauseous looking at those bridge pictures! I try not to look down or sideways when crossing a bridge. Thankfully I don't drive (fear of speed, among other things). Then there's fear of crowds (and three is a crowd, in my book!), fear of humans...

Kind of curious - what do you like?

Worcester Bacon, how do you reconcile your childfreedom with being catholic? (If you don't want to answer this rather personal question please ignore it! :sorry: ) (I'm a cradle catholic and I'm confused about what I believe right now.)

On second thought, maybe wild life should vote

Good idea! And give them guns, too! They should have the right to defend themselves just like other Americans.

France is set to ban the words 'mother' and 'father' from all official documents...

Alright, you're not talking about France and your post wasn't directed at me even if it appeared to be. I'm not a mindreader. I still can't follow your thinking - from terminology on French government documents to (I think) American healthcare politics is quite a stretch.

    Reilly's CCLXV- !

It'll be a challenge but that's a good thing! Arabic looks so pretty. Also, knowing Arabic helps if you want to learn Hebrew (and vice versa) as both are semitic languages. I don't know any Arabic but I love food from middle eastern countries.

    Reilly's CCLXV- !

Very cool! I can't read Arabic, what does it say? Why don't you like to learn foreign languages Chany? I hope this pub sells alcohol (Arabic word by the way).... after all, it is haram to drink alcohol. :preach:

Abstinence before marriage is the only sure way to avoid pregnancy and disease...

OK thanks for explaining, I didn't know that. 16-18 is extremely young. My country is tiny, we can't get land for free - I wish we had that luxury. I love emptiness and absence of people.

    Is this true?

Well, if it's a soft drink then you needn't bother, but thanks for the offer anyway Mike. :) American cuisine is interesting, I have six or seven American cookery books (three of them cajun).

Dick Morris: Hillary let the cat out of bag about Obama's 2nd term plans

Speaking of cats, do the Obamas have one? I know that the Clintons used to have one, Socks if I'm not mistaken, but as far as I can remember they had to get a dog because cats aren't American enough for the average American? (sorry if I'm wrong :sorry: )

What does sassafras root taste like? I know that sassafras is used in cajun cooking but I've never tasted or even seen it. What do they use of the birch?

    Is this true?

Well, over here you could drink hard liquor legally, too, so that doesn't say that much. ;) What roots do they make it of?

Is root beer real beer? (Never had it.)

Abstinence before marriage is the only sure way to avoid pregnancy and disease...

The nobility had arranged marriages but common people actually had a choice in marriage. Yes, farmers didn't marry until they could get their own farm, which often was well past 30.

This can even break the frost on as hardhearted a guy like...

What he said. Having to speak German isn't the problem. Coming from a border region, as a boy my husband watched more German television than Dutch, he has more affinity with German politeness than with Dutch rudeness, etc etc. I wouldn't mind moving to Germany, nor would I mind if my country...
