    Becoming a full time preacher!

He hasn't posted since March 2013. I hope if he has been called that he has been obedient. My Jonah years were not fun.

Cold Christians...How do you deal with them?

Many would call me cold. They need to give me some time. I am an introvert by nature but this has been compounded by PTSD and its related issues. Be patient. Don't take it personally.

    Platonic bed sharing while married.

The most important relationship in our life is the one we have with God. The most important relationship we have on earth is the one we have with our spouse. No other person should be afforded the same intimacy.

    The smell of smoke...

While I do not agree with everything he says (I'd be worried if I agreed with anyone that much) I have found him to be a preacher of sound doctrine and a man who stand sin the gap against sin.

    Gay wedding parade float controversy

No, it doesn't. It spreads the risk. There is a difference that I'm not sure how to help you see. If I have 100 people paying for health insurance and 75 of them are sick we have a risk spread over a small pool. If I add 100 people who (hopefully) are healthy the risk doesn't drop it just...

    Gay wedding parade float controversy

Group insurance is generally a controlled increase in the risk pool. That's why that tends to work. The less control you have over who gets in the pool the less it works.

    Gay wedding parade float controversy

No, it spreads the risk. Whether it increases or decreases the risks depends on who is added. An example using auto insurance. Let's say I insure 100 people. So far the risk is low because they are experienced drivers and they have the means to maintain their vehicles. They also have the means...

    Gay wedding parade float controversy

I did not watch the parade this year. I had better things to do than watch a fine tradition be politicized by an extreme minority hell bent on holding the nation hostage and flaunting their sin.

OT: question about churches & communion

If you quit getting hung up on the translation and actually study the passage in its historical and cultural context you would do well. There is no basis, other than man's tradition, for the teaching that the elements are magically changed by the reciting of a special phrase. None. It does not...

OT: question about churches & communion

No, its a desire to be explicitly biblical.

OT: question about churches & communion

Having grown up in church and having been exposed to many faith groups I have plenty to compare. EDIT TO ADD: BTW, as a pastor, I have never downplayed Communion. I do, however, reject the extra-biblical teachings of certain faith groups in regards to this issue.

OT: question about churches & communion

I wholeheartedly disagree. That is not what I see in Scripture and that is not what I have experienced. Most of my most personal and most impacting encounters with Jesus were far from any religious ritual.

    re: hearts o' stone...

Nope. The Word, shallow enough to never drowned the newest babe and deep enough that we even the mature will not exhaust its depths.

    re: hearts o' stone...

I think it is a heart thing. Think about our own righteousness being like filthy rags. Even at our best (humanly speaking) we're still sinful and in need of a savior. Let's say I win the lotto and instead of creating a grand new lifestyle I give it all away. Some goes to various rescue missions...
