    Elton John

For those of you who appreciate quotes in context: "I think religion has always tried to turn hatred toward gay people. Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays." "But there are so many people I know who are gay and love their religion," he said. "From my point of view, I would ban...

CBS suits to air inappropriate content. Bet they lose!

"CBS suits to air inappropriate content" means that CBS is planning on broadcasting inappropriate content in the (presumably near) future. However, the article is really about CBS appealing the fine it received for the 2004 Superbowl halftime show. Past tense would be appropriate. Future tense is misleading and potentially libelous.

Desperate shoppers see jokers smash PS3 !

Most places around here had a dozen or less in stock. Those long lines were in vain. Of course, camping overnight for a video game system is a waste of time anyway, whether you end up buying it or not.

Thank God! Walmart agrees not to fund gays. AFA cancels boycott.

What success? Wal-Mart's profits went up. All that was accomplished was that someone in the PR department spent a few minutes writing a press release. Nothing has changed.

Yeah, I read that site too. I didn't have the audacity to copy and paste the whole thing, though. And since you didn't include the link for the ctrl+a, here it is.

    What makes an Atheist?

Truth withstands scrutiny. If your argument isn't logical, you may want to rethink your position. If you're arguing from emotion, you don't have much to argue with, and you're not going to win anyone over.

    Is Nudity Okay?

So sleeping with your spouse in the nude and having sex in the nude are bad? Why?

    What makes an Atheist?

Knowing how to spot logical fallacies isn't really "personal experience," unless you consider my PHIL120 Intro to Logic class "personal experience." I don't. So, would you mind explaining how your argument isn't an appeal to popularity, or should we just go ahead and ignore the rest of your...

    What makes an Atheist?

"Telling it like it is" shouldn't rely on logical fallacies.

2 Samuel 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of...

reparations - is it payback time?

I'd be willing to apologize to the descendents of slaves just as soon as they collectively send me a thank-you note for sacrificing my family members to the Union Army and for having ancestors who were a part of the Underground Railroad. I should get a bonus gift for being from the hometown of...

Ah, but which Bible? Which translation? How many books are included and which ones are left out?

PM declares Quebec nation 'within Canada'

I'm trying to think of cases where a portion of a country became its own country without problems. All I can think of is Ireland and the Confederacy, and those both ended with bloodshed. So yeah, I can't think of any successful examples either. I'm sure there are, but for the life of me I can't...

    Abortion- should it be legal?

I really, really don't like abortion. However, I don't see how banning it would have positive consequences.

If an employee isn't willing to comply with the workplace standards she agreed to when she was hired, she's not a good employee. Disrespect and an unwillingness to do what she is contractually obligated to do (and the forms you sign when hired are most certainly a binding contract) are not signs...
