    NFP in Marriage?

In 1957, the Greek Archdiocese Yearbook made the following statement: “If a husband and wife do not desire to have any children, they ought to abstain from all conjugal relations until they are able to have children, and then to come together again in sexual union, relying entirely and solely...

    NFP in Marriage?

Acknowledgeing that a POV exists is not the same as pushing it as an Orthodox POV. This is a common mistake from people on forums.

    NFP in Marriage?

You deny 2,000 years of consistent teaching and cherry pick what fits your fancy. That does not confirm Orthodoxy.

    NFP in Marriage?

Yes, I can read. Even into the 1960s and 1970s the various jurisdictions were teaching against contraception. Any acceptance of it is at best 40-50 years old ... out of 2,000 years of teaching ...

    NFP in Marriage?

Yeah, Harakas is not a saint. In fact, he admits pro-contraception is a new view.

    NFP in Marriage?

It actually doesn't help at all. Feel free to quote a saint who wrote approvingly of contraception.

    NFP in Marriage?

The Church is opposed to birth control as its standard. Relaxation of that standard can come into play through counsel with one's spiritual father, as Fr. Josiah Trenham teaches, for example.

Fasting periods in the Church (and those who appear to ignore it)

    Battles of the Patriarchs?

He just strikes me as a true Christian. He is long-suffering and humble. All of this mess with the fighting schismatics has got to be a terrible strain on someone who isn't supported by prayer. All the other patriarchs consistently talk about how much they love and respect him and that he is a...

    Battles of the Patriarchs?

We don't know how much he is actually considering it. He might have just initiated these talks with the other Churches about it to get the schismatics to finally leave him alone. But then again, we'll see.

    Battles of the Patriarchs?

The canonical Church in the Ukraine is not interested in autocephaly, so it's unlikely the Russian Church will grant it, although, in my personal opinion, Met. Onuphry would make a great patriarch for a Ukrainian Church.

Good to see a priest promoting the traditional views on life in Russia...

Keep in mind that Fr. Dimitry is a representative for the Patriarchal Commission for Family and the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood. That is, he speaks on behalf of the Russian Church on such matters. Note that the Basis of the Social Concept mentions only abstinence in terms of...
