Conflicting views on Salvation? Struggling with something my pastor said

I agree completely with LilLamb 219's response. The Scriptures to teach of false conversion and that good works do indeed follow faith. However, the Pastor has no right in claiming who is going to spend eternity in Heaven and who is not. Salvation is of the Lord and I am comforted in knowing the...

    Limited Atonement

Just enjoying reading this thread.. =) Butch5- Just wanted to say hi and that I noticed that we both quote JM in our signatures, pretty cool! As far as "Double Predestionation" I think the issue is not so much why doesn't God choose one person over an other.. but rather, why is it that He...

    Two questions please

Not necessarily, it really depends on how one would define the term Calvinist. ( I used to live by a "Christian-Reformed church" that was Dutch Reformed. In confession they were Reformed but the preaching not at all. That was very odd! Short answer: Through Christ Alone Longer Answer: The...

    Two questions please

That is correct. Outside of Christ man can do NO good works before God. I am unaware of any Scriptures teaching that we are to "invite" Jesus into our hearts.(as though Christ were at the mercy of His creation in fulfilling His Father's will). God is Mighty to save does so...

The ECONOMY OF THE COVENANTS by Herman Witsius

 This work is the sine qua non of Covenant Theology There are a few resources available for those set to study this work. Ramsey, D. Patrick and Joel R. Beeke have outlined the work exellently in a small book titled; An Analysis of Herman Witsius's "The Economy of the Covenants...

Greetings I am loving all of the resources that have been listed in this section. I wanted to add to the collection Robert L. Reymond's A New Systematic Theology of The Christian Faith (online FREE!) This is a bit of a polemic work, not written in the same style as others, an EXCELLENT work...

now can a calvanist tell me this?

Greetings Reformationist, I am not sure if I understood your last post . Are you saying that the doctrine of Double Predestination is unbiblical? I personally hold to the doctrine and believe it is the clear teaching of Scripture. Maybe you could expound on what you mean...

    One horrendous doctrine

Hello, I have read most of this thread and have seen the same rhetoric concerning the Decrees of God by those that oppose the Doctrines of Grace in a multitude of forums. It seems as though they believe by using such terminology as "Eternal Torture"(which no Reformer uses), when describing...

New to reformed Theology, advice please

Oberland, There are many books to read concerning Reformed Theology. I believe that the best introduction is The Sovereignty of God by A.W. Pink. He writes in a style that is clear and concise. Now, there are two versions of this book. One is published by Banner of Truth and the other by...

What is the Covenant of Grace?

Most Reformed Theologians make distinctions between the Covenant of Redemption AKA Counsel of Peace and the Covenant of Grace. I agree that they are NOT the same. The Covenant of Redemption works through the Covenant of Grace in bringing to Salvation God's Elect.

Book: A Simple Overview of Covenant Theology - Matthew McMahon

I have read the book many times. The book is a dialogue between a student and his professor concerning Covenant Theology. The ultimate goal of this work is to show how God deals covenentally with His children throughout redemptive history. In in my opinion there are many straw-man arguements...
