    Unbelievable Martin Luther

Luther was a vulgar man living in very dramatic times. It is worth pointing out that even Lutheran churches, despite bearing his name, did not adopt all of his opinions. Luther's theological and political opinions are not synonymous with Lutheranism. Although some of his writings were...

how common is weekly communion in ELCA?

Most every parish in my area (San Antonio) has weekly communion. The same was true when I lived in a more rural part of Texas. It was still pretty common, though not across the board, when I lived in Nashville as well. In fact, one of the few old school parishes that did it every other week...

    Latin Mass in Anglo-Catholicism?

When I was an Anglican in a setting where there was daily mass we almost had it in Latin. The priest was an expat CoE man and I was one of only two people to who up (both of us were part of the chancel party). He then cited the Articles of Religion and said that since the three of us...

St. Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Seminary in San Antonio

I believe it is a mostly online program, but I don't know for sure. They may do classroom setting up at the large Coptic parish/retreat center north of town.

    Moving to San Antonio

Not that I am encouraging you to leave the LCMS, but I hear good things about the ELS parish's liturgy in town. I believe it is rather small, and mostly older folks, but the feedback I've received is that they do traditional liturgy from their synod hymnal (about which I am mostly ignorant, but...

    Moving to San Antonio

I'm not terribly familiar with Crown of Life's worship style, but I do believe they have weekly Communion.

I live in SA. I am ELCA, but what you are saying I have heard from other LCMS folks.

Are Home Altars A Lutheran Tradition?

I don't have any info either way. In our case, my wife and I are more 'catholic-minded' than others. I myself spent about 10 years traveling in Anglo-Catholic circles. So, we may not be particularly good examples.

Are Home Altars A Lutheran Tradition?

My wife and I have a kneeler with prayer books, Bible, etc. in our house, but don't refer to it as an "altar." Does that count?

    Lectionary Use in ELCA

It is the official lectionary and appears in our hymnal, Evangelical Lutheran Worship. That being said, ELW is not 'mandatory' and some congregations still use the previous hymnal. The ELCA congregation where I work as the business manager does not always follow the lectionary. The Senior...

    Lutherans and headcovering?

I haven't seen headcovering as a common practice in any Lutheran church I've attended, but I wouldn't let that stop you. In my experience congregations would be supportive/welcoming of someone doing that.

    Bishops

From what I have understood, Methodists tend to describe their bishops in administrative/oversight terms while Anglicans describe theirs in apostolic succession/sacramental terms.

    Ubiquity of Christ's Presence

I'm very curious to see what Anglicans have to say about this finer point of orthodox Lutheran Christology.

    Bibles with the Apocrypha

Most Anglicans/liturgical Protestants who read from the Apocrypha use the NRSV. Other editions with the apocrypha include the RSV, Good News, and even the ESV has an Apocrypha now. You may also want to consider the Catholic translation, the NABRE.

    Time for a Lutheran Ordinariate?

I'm sorry to jump into a Catholic discussion, but I wouldn't see the point of a Lutheran ordinariate. The primary distinctive of Lutheranism is its theology expressed in the Book of Concord, not our form of the Mass (we do not have a uniform liturgy). Anglo-Catholics, on the other hand were...

    Sincere questions

I'm not UCC so I can't address the majority of your post, but when it comes to Reformation churches that teach baptismal regeneration you need to add to the list Lutheran, Anglican, and Methodist churches.
