The photo that lost radio’s ‘Bible Answer Man’ thousands of listeners

Seems to me the discussions and speculations about changes in Hanegraaff's views of Sola Scriptura, etc., have a pretty elementry solution. He is the Bible Answer Man, so why not ask him? :) Q: Why did you change to Greek Orthodox? A: But [Hanegraaff] said the experience of worship at St...

Childrens cartoons - Netflix, Hulu, PBS & Amazon

I want to second Wallace and Gromit! Three animated shorts are a must: A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Close Shave (introduces Shawn the Sheep). Their movie Curse of the Were Rabbit is probably too scary for a 4 year old. Also not as whimsically fun as their shorts. Shaun the...

Childrens cartoons - Netflix, Hulu, PBS & Amazon

I am an animation fan, and have watched quite a number of shows. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic I highly recommend My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It's on Netflix. The art is absolutely beautiful, and the stories are fun and carry a great message about... Friendship. I see this...

The call of a Christ inspired artist.

I am so glad I read your post. I found it both inspiring and humbling. I can also see your talent as an artist coming through in the ludicidy of your writing. May God bless you in your ministry! -Pie

Cadbury removes word “Easter” from Halal certified “whatever” eggs

I really didn't find this thread disturbing... until this comment: I remember the Cadbury Bunny commercial vividly. Which makes me how old??? Uggghhhhhhhhh... -Pie

Is it a sin to take part in entertainment?

Oh, okay! I missed the references. Since I didn't see the references, I will refrain from opining further on the blood letting. Vampirism, I mean, not the Gibsonian kind. ;) -Pie

Is it a sin to take part in entertainment?

I'm pretty disappointed with this. Simply put: the scriptures may be straightforward, but your usage of them was not. Unless you assume vampire stories are inherently evil in all genres, styles, forms, expressions. etc. Is that what where you're coming from? -Pie

Is it a sin to take part in entertainment?

I'm not sure how what Paul says in Col 3:2 and Phil 4:8 contradict what RaymondG said, can you explain? -Pie

Is it a sin to take part in entertainment?

A few brief thoughts sparked by other posts... Jesus told stories. Anndd... The highest grossing domestic R-rated release of all time? The Passion of the Christ Annnddd... I have nothing to add to this. :) -Pie

    How do YOU do devotionals?

My devotional life changed just over a year ago when I committed to listening to J. Vernon McGee on Thru The Bible every day. I've read the Bible through (in one year, which was stupid), I've read books alone, I've read passages. But I'm like the OP, overthinking things or getting confused and...

    Music, tv and films

Can you expound on this a bit? I mean, how do zombie movies stress morality? And how does stressing morality cause you to make good decisions? And now that I think about, what does it mean to "stress morality"? :) -Pie

Why should a christian NOT commit suicide?

Does Jesus' sacrifice on the cross only apply to the repentant? I think the answer is no. And such statements only lead to greater despair. I suffer clinical depression and anxiety. I'm a drug addict on top. I've seen and experienced suffering so profound that it can overhwelm the human...

    Gods excruciating silence....

I don't think this is entirely accurate. There's the long period of silence between Joseph and Moses. And then the inter-Testament period with no prophets. IIRC both about 500 years. And both those periods ended not because of any thing the people did that was right, or good, or deserving...

    Gods excruciating silence....

Hi, and I pray that Christ fills you with His Spirit to bring you the comfort all of us like you so desperately need. As someone who also feels desperation with God's silence, and following on LizzyMae's advice, I highly recommend you check out J. Vernon McGee on Thru the Bible. Literally, a...

The Existence of God & The Kalam Cosmological Argument

The Big Bang theorizes matter always existed... and then Bang! Or 'pop', which is far less spectacular. :) I can be hand wavy, as the onus is not on me to show the Kalam argument holds up. ;) Now, for Vilenkin -- he states that disorder increases with time, and thus as the number of big-bangs...

The Existence of God & The Kalam Cosmological Argument

The logic itself here strikes me as somewhat problematic. "Whatever begins to exist has a cause." I see this as a form of "hasty generalization" (though decidedly less hasty than others). We may have observed many (many!) things which point to a cause / effect nature. But at what point do we...

    If the Bible never existed...

In answer to the OP, I believe the context of Christ's teaching would be lost without written scripture. How would we know The Law? Or the Prophets? Or that Jesus himself fulfilled prophecy (an imperitive credential)? Or what he meant when he said that he came to fulfil both the Law and the...

    If the Bible never existed...

Can you explain this a bit more? I know you say the following: But Christ's teachings are recorded in the Bible, from eyewitness accounts. Thus the Gospel of the Church does indeed originate from Scripture. -Pie
