    Abuse:Physical,Emotional,Sexual,Spiritual,Legal,and Financial

I haven't been able to handle forums lately...but I pop in from time to time :) Yep, we're separated, and divorced as soon as possible. It's a bit complicated because I just moved, so I have to rely on him to do the paperwork until I've lived here ninety days. Hopefully soon.

    Abuse:Physical,Emotional,Sexual,Spiritual,Legal,and Financial

It's even worse when people think it's completely acceptable as long as it's in marriage. I ended up talking to both kinds of people (the ones who thought it shouldn't be as bad, and those who thought it was acceptable) here on CF when I was with my husband and needing reassurance that it was...

Should a Christian wife submit to her husband? (new poll)

The problem with this is that it leaves the wife with no recourse. If her husband is doing something he shouldn't, or asking something that is harmful to her, she is helpless in the situation if she wants to be a "good" wife. If it isn't something immoral or illegal, and doesn't harm anyone...

    Personal Responsibility

Whose statistics? I keep hearing about them, but I never see them.

    Personal Responsibility

Yep, exactly. If we're talking about "Should abortion be legal?" then the question to ask is "Does the government have the right to make laws about what goes on in your body?" If we're talking about "Is abortion moral?" then consent matters very little when weighed against a human life (if...

    Personal Responsibility

Not over-the-counter yet, it looks like, but hopefully by the end of the year... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/24/AR2006082400559.html

    Personal Responsibility

Available over-the-counter where? Not here as far as I know...but I just moved to this state. Let's go for "If they want to be taken care of and have a frickin' clue there's resources, AND are in a situation where they can take advantage of said resources." But okay. We can talk about only...

    Personal Responsibility

What about those situations where Plan B is not available? For example, there was an article in the local newspaper about a woman here who was raped, but because she was afraid to report it to the police, she could only get Plan B from her doctor. She got a prescription, but was unable to find...

    Personal Responsibility

In an ethics discussion, it doesn't matter. All cases need to be discussed and accounted for.

    Personal Responsibility

I did read carefully, and I noticed that you're not condemning the practice so much as the state of mind of the woman getting the abortion. I think that's interesting. By the way, where are your statistics from? Linky?

    Personal Responsibility

Unless you're raped and don't have a choice in it at all. On the topic of abortion, people seem to want to focus on one situation (the healthy woman who gets pregnant from consensual sexual contact), and too bad for all the rest, hmm?

Should a Christian wife submit to her husband? (new poll)

If it is a correct model, it should work in real life, not just in an ideal world. In an ideal world, this model works. In real life, what it actually does is facilitate the actions of abusers. Not in all cases, maybe not even in most cases, but it does.

Should a Christian wife submit to her husband? (new poll)

That there is only one view acceptable among "true" Christians? That's what I'm getting.

Should a Christian wife submit to her husband? (new poll)

The options are slanted. No voting for me :(

    Abuse:Physical,Emotional,Sexual,Spiritual,Legal,and Financial

This one makes my skin crawl because I've heard it so much. If someone "can't help it" ("it" being anything), they need psychiatric help. If such a person truly cannot control themselves, but is still a good person, they will seek that help immediately and will take any action necessary to...

How careful and selective are you being?

I was very, very careful, and never believed divorce would be an option for me. Unfortunately, he was very, very good at deceiving people, and "till death do us part" took on a darker sort of meaning. I would still die for him, but not by him.

    love and respect

I don't think love can exist without respect. Respect without love, yeah, because we can respect people we dislike, or don't really know, or are only friends with. I guess to me respect is treating someone as an equal, not attempting to put them down and dealing with them fairly.

What do you do for work and what do you want to for a career

I have no idea what I want to do for a career. Something in the field of linguistics, of course, since that's my major. That's as specific as it gets right now :P
