Shabbat shalom.

I get weekly work e-mails from a rabbi that are always titled Shabbat Shalom (work at a Jewish hospital). One can always find hummus in the cafeteria too- which is always a plus.

Fr James Bernstein is one of the more prominent converts, and he knows a lot about the Jewish origin of our theology and practice. he wrote a book about it and his conversion called Surprised By Christ.

What about the origin of "veneration of the saints"?

Is it originated from Judaic custom "the veneration of the rabbis"?

no, it originated with the patriarchs, most clearly shown in how the Hebrews took the bones of Joseph back to the Land of Promise during the Exodus. it is just more clearly fleshed out in the Light of Christ, since as He came and fully reveals God to man.

I don't know why you post this on a Christian site. I have travelled extensively through Israel and have much respect for Jewish tradition, which is what Shabbat is.

But Christians do not continue with Jewish fasts; we know this is condemned from back as far as the 1st Century Didache. Christians are to fast on Wednesday and Friday. Saturday is a feast day, which contradicts Shabbat.

I think you are perhaps unwittingly repeating the Judaizing heresy.

Given that this is a Christian site, I don't understand why you celebrate Jewish Shabbat rather than Christian Sabbath. That seems like Judaizing. Even the 1st Century Christians rejected this.

Maybe you should read this thread from the beginning...
