Are you a Christian and a Trekkie? Will you watch this?

I love all other Treks (1960s on), but the last movie, Beyond, made me feel icky during the Sulu scene (I heard about it before the movie). I am not sure how to handle this type of "exploration" which is 100% inappropriate for kids (not that any kids under 13 should even be watching many episodes and all movies anyway).

People get offended when they claim Christians did something, but it is okay for them to offend us and God??

Thoughts? Thanks.

Christians are treated as a soft target, and bigots and a joke in general (at least, that's they treatment Christians get in Australia); so people generally don't care if they offend Christians.

FWIW, I'm a trekkie, and there are episodes I don't watch, like DS9's "Rejoined" because of the lesbian relationship in that episode. I'd have to give Discovery a go and see what it's like. Star Trek has generally always been seen as politically progressive, so there may be some homosexual content in it. But, we can only wait and see. But typically Star Trek (TV series) tend to float around PG or M ratings, so it won't be explicit, if there's anything of that sort.

Well really gay stuff has been around forever in Trek. Maybe it was pointed out as much before. But its been there. I do remember an atheist making a good point though. He said "You freak out about gays in the series yet you have no complaints about humans sleeping with aliens and even creatures who have no gender!". I mean hes kind of right. Kirk slept with many aliens, which I guess would qualify as sort of like inappropriate behavior with animals?

None the less like much modern entertainment in america now, being PC (politically correct) is shoved into everything. Whether it be the gay issues, the race issues, the gender issue... and so on. I'm watching less and less stuff because of it. I think the new Trek will flop regardless just because its going to be watchable only by subscription (pay to watch). That and the CGI for the new ship looked terrible.
