Have any of you tried losing more than 50 pounds once you have reached or passed 40?

I will be 40 in October. I was told by doctor to lose at least 60 pounds, but no more than 90, a year and a half ago. I have been able to lose 10-20, but then gain it back. I also have a lot of weight fluctuations due to excess water retention that comes and goes frequently so it is hard to tell for sure. I've never been able to loose more than 20. One of the toughest hurdles is not being able to do much for exercise because of physical disability. I'm very limited in what I can do. So most of my weight loss effort has to be focused on diet and nutrition.

A personal trainer might be able to give you some tips on exercising that you've not thought of. Many folks with disabilities have found this helpful. Also, don't let the age myth get you down. Your age doesn't have anything to do with it. A calorie is a calorie no matter your age. So don't worry about that. Maybe your doc can give you some exercises or refer you to a physical therapist or personal trainer who can make the most of your exercise potential. Prayers for you!
