Are there some Christians who don't call themselves nudists or naturists that are ok with swimming nude in a hot tub or skinny dipping in a pool?

This sounds like my mom. She grew up in the country and didn't swim much, but when she did, she was nude, which was common in that era.

Later when she moved to Chicago, she saw Sally Rand on stage. Sally Rand was a fan dancer who performed nude, but covered herself with large feather fans, exposing body parts while dancing to music. My mom said it was very tasteful, even beautiful, and not at all lewd.

My mom also had no problem with nude artworks, and was nude a lot at home (when bathing, changing clothes, etc.) but would have never considered being nude in a group of nude strangers; she just wasn't that social.

As I have mentioned before, my family and I have literally hundreds of nudist friends who are Christian. Many are quite open about it (like on Facebook), others are not.

It is more common than most people imagine. In my first year of college, the dorm supervisor's wife privately sunbathed nude (it was a Christian college). At a Christian retreat center at Lake Tahoe (California), the owner's wife also sunbathed nude, and made no attempt to hide it.

I want to be more open about it at least with one friend. Do you think I can share my hobby of naturism with another Christian and still have a good friendship?

My friend makes comments that lets me think that she may be ok with nudism. I want to make sure where she stands on nude beaches, naked volleyball or nude body art etc. before I tell her I am a nudist.

Has it been easy for others to tell friends of your nudism or did you have to think about it a lot before you told them? If it is really more common than we imagine I wish people could talk more freely about it and say yes they think nude swimming is ok or it is not ok and not have it be a big deal to discuss.

Whether or not your friend accepts your nudism depends on her opinion of nudity and its appropriateness. It's a good idea to find out how she feels about the topic before you go further.

Most of my friends who know I'm a nudist are also nudists, and meeting each other at nudist resorts has taken care of the "decision" process. I have told others who didn't know, and they may or may not agree with my nudism. That's also true for political views, religious views, and everything else. In each case I considered how they might react, but in the end it comes down to people each having their own opinions, and trying to understand those whose opinions differ.

Funny church stories:

Has anyone ever heard a funny story about nudity in a church group setting like at a meeting or a dinner or just with church friends?

I have heard about nude beaches, nude swimming, a nude wedding, a nude statue at a museum etc.

As far as I know the person telling the story is not a nudist, but they tell the story with such good humor it makes you wonder if they could be ok with nudism.

I have read some stories online of workers who happened to be Christian having to go to nudist resorts to work on computers and office equipment etc.

I wonder what other occupations go to nudist resorts and they are not nudists like plumbers, electricians, painters, real estate agents, lawyers, mailmen, landscapers, gardeners, caterers etc. I wonder if there is a list somewhere of all the occupations that can work at a nudist resort at one time or another? Can a clothed pastor go to a nudist resort to do church work like for the sick etc. or even perform a wedding?

If the workers are Christian and don't agree with the nudist lifestyle can they refuse to go or will they get fired? I wonder when they get back to a church meeting do they ever say, guess where I worked last week? I was fixing computers at a nudist resort. I heard a bible study teacher say one time that a couple decided to skip the church wedding and get married on a nude beach.

I wonder how many times working at a nudist resort might come up in a conversation at a church meeting during the year? Can Christians do work at a nudist resort and still be considered a good Christian? Can a regular Christian go to a nudist resort as an invited guest or even do volunteer work there and keep their clothes on and still be accepted at church?

I guess it is like a doctor or an artist or a worker at a health spa sometimes they will see naked people. I know Christian nudists will have no problem with it, but what will a church say if they find out someone from church has to work at a nudist resort once in awhile?

I am just curious as to how the church and people in the church view this matter. It would be very interesting to hear the various answers and opinions.

Dayhiker,

I think I am ready to meet other naturists again, but I don't want to go to a resort by myself without knowing anyone. I would like to start out small and meet a naturist close to me and go swimming in a pool.

Maybe I can go to a resort later. I have tried posting on person to person on naturist sites, but I never get a response. There are hundreds of pools all around me and at least a few people have to skinny dip in them.

How do I get to know a good Christian naturist online at first and then maybe get invited to a skinny dip at their house? I'm sure a few of my church friends who have pools may have skinny dipped at least once, but they keep it private.

I used to years ago, but I don't have access to that pool anymore. Is there a Christian naturist chat room anywhere? I want to meet real naturists and not people who are not into real naturism.

Well, Catholic friend, I never did meet a Christian nudist thru the web. I don't know how to do that. Even tho we have had nice times talking here about the joys of being nude, we haven't had any women really just in and be apart it it.

I have found Christian women in non Christian personal growth groups more by accident than by plan.

Are there any Christians who dont call themselves nudists, but they are comfortable in their own skin?

For example if they were going swimming, but suits were required they would get nude right there instead of going to the bathroom to change? Much like at a dorm or locker room.

Or they might feel comfortable to be nude at home with friends or in the pool or hot tub, but would never go to a nudist resort or to a nude beach.

I have seen others go nude before they change, but how do you know it won't offend anyone?

Also has anyone ever shared naturist vacation pictures with non nudist friends if the were ok with it?

I was wondering how many Chrsistians see nudity on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis and they just don't mention it?

Like if they go to an art museum or to a gym locker room, a movie or cable show or a play with nudity. Or maybe they haven seen a naked bike ride or have seen a nude beach or have gone skinny dipping or have been nude in a hot tub?

Maybe they have seen nude body painting or a Las Vegas type show or when they were younger they could have gone to a bachelor party or to an art show with living nude statues or to a spa.

Can you think of other things where people can see nudity, but they don't consider themselves nudists?

Is viewed nudity more common around church people, but we rarely hear about it? Just curious.

This has to do with nudity and not naturism. What about bachelor and bachelorette parties? If it is ok for Christians to go to a nudist resort and see nude people or go to a nude play or performance art show is it ok to go to a bachelor or bachelorette party?

What if the party was not sexual? What if a woman jumped out of a cake nude and did nothing but sing a song for the bachelor or even at a birthday party?

At a bachelorette party what if they hired a nude life drawing model and they drew him for fun but it was not sexual?

I wonder if they have ever had any bachelor or bachelorette parties at a nudist resort where the person doing the performance was nude but it wasn't sexual. Just a party for the bride or groom to be and it just included simple nudity?

Health care staff and other professionals see people naked all the time.
