• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey everyone,

I have recently re-dedicated my life to Jesus Christ and I need some help making it stick this time.

Throughout the years, I have struggled with homosexuality and addiction to inappropriate contentography and masturbation. I can't keep living that way. I have had so much trouble in the past breaking the habit and I could use some help this time.

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Camcates21,

Thanks for sharing. For me, I had to set some very good boundaries in my life. For instance, I restrict my internet usage to only an hour per day. And I've completely blocked access to almost every website including Facebook, Yahoo, Google, and Youtube. There's nothing wrong with making my home a safe place. And redirecting my life so that I'm doing other more productive things besides messing with my computer.

For me, it's really important that I don't do this alone. Do this on your own and you will fail. Trust me on that one. I have about 20 different phone buddies that I can reach out to. I'm not very disciplined with the phone calls, but I've gotten much better at it. I'm also part of a Christ-based website that ministers to P*rn addiction. It's been a great gift in my life. There, we've been encouraging one another to reach out to God and to each other.

God bless you, camcates21. I'll be praying for you.

Hi Camcates21

Thank you for being honest. In my experience I have learnt that the easiest option is the best option. For example, if you are really tempted with p on your computer, rather than putting filters on it, you must stop using it. If a friend is tempting you, rather than having some boundaries around him, you must stop seeing him. This is quite radical and difficult but the Word tells us to flee all temptation.

PM me if you want to talk more
God bless
