We don't need a head case who would deplete our farm system.

We already have the assets in place to deal with head cases (Hamilton) so why not one more, I think a change of scenery with do him a world of good...

So getting Lucroy would not be an upgrade. Unless they are looking long term. Have not heard rumblings on this for a few days.

Lucroy: 13HR, 50 RBI, and .301 BA

Rangers 4 headed Catchers: 15 HR, 57 RBIs, and .232 BA

Now if Lucroy can call that much better of a game or can keep the pitchers head together better then OK, if not then it's just a waste of players and more in payroll. I think they will go looking for a catching prospect in someone else's AA system during the off season. The only decent prospect the Rangers currently have is Jose Trevino and he's in High Desert (at least 3 years out)...

To go along with the last post an excerpt from this article: http://www.shutdowninning.com/back-it-up-the-state-of-catching-in-arlington/

Interestingly enough, the 3-headed monster has out-produced its predecessors by a wide margin. Although the walk rate is almost exactly the same, the strikeout rate is down 10%, their isolated slugging percentage is 50 points higher, and they’ve moved from a below-average 86 wRC+ to an above average 119 mark. As a whole, the group has compiled a 1.9 WAR (2nd overall), which trails only the Brewers (read: Lucroy). Some of the special highlights include:

You would have to trade Profar and at least one pitching prospect to have a chance at him. But I'm like you I don't think the Reds will want to do that and neither do I...
Gallo in the line up tonight.

Well Prince is having his surgery Friday so I thought I would get your take on it. Mine is he will get his neck fixed and then retire if he knows what is good for him. Another twist the wrong way and he could end up paralyzed, am not sure what the odds of that are happening but why take the chance. That being said I don't think they will move Joey for a pitcher knowing Prince will probably retire and Mitch is a free agent. I think he's here to stay (as long as he produces) not playing as a showcase for a trade...

Yes I think Joey is here to stay and so is Profar.

Joey needs to move to DH when Mitch is in the lineup.

Rangers trade mil 2B for retread and reliever.

You know speaking of catchers why don't the Rangers hire Pudge as a special consultant/scout and let him scour the minors/colleges/high schools/South America for catcher prospects. And after the Rangers acquire them let him be their coach/tutor thru the minor leagues...

A physical therapist on Hoopla said this surgery is on different vertebrae. Which means his neck compensated for the fused area. If he gets the next ones fused the remaining unfused will compensate again and rinse repeat another major surgery.

So he has young kids. If he wants to be 40 something and still able to play ball with them as I like to do, he needs to hang it up.

Thought Pudge was already on the payroll as a catcher developer in the minors.

Seems the type of pitcher a rebuilding team keeps. Don't see this happening.

I know what you mean but just about anybody can be had if the price is right, if they overpay he could end up in Texas...

Now I guess the next question is how long will he drag this out before he says sayonara, he needs to do it before FA opens for business. Problem is there isn't that much SP available for 2017 you'll have to overpay to get one. Which basically leads us back to trading for one in the off season if they don't get something done by Sunday. (Find a team that needs an established SS signed for the next 5 years)... :)

https://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/league-info/potential-free-agents-for-2017/

He should have enough moola saved up that he can retire comfortably... (And I wonder what kind of insurance policies he/Rangers have on him)?
