I saw this on Reddit a couple days ago and thought I'd wait for the launch of the new forum to share it on here. It's a three-year-old blog post, but nevertheless I thought it was interesting that there's a growing trend of new priests taking an interest in the Latin Mass, and even a growing number of priests joining the FSSP.

It’s clear that both Ecclesia Dei (1988) and Summorum Pontificum (2007) are producing much good fruit, and vocations, for the Church.

Concurrent with this is the ever increasing offering of weekly Traditional Latin Masses in the United States. Even just since 2007, when Pope Benedict issued his motu proprio, the total number of weekly masses in the Extraordinary Form have nearly doubled from roughly 225 to over 400 currently.

This video is embedded in the linked post, but I thought I'd go ahead and throw it up on here too.

I've been under the impression since I first started exploring Catholicism that a big factor for what's drawing converts from evangelicalism like me is the Latin Mass. If the reason that we're leaving evangelicalism is the lack of reverence, then to us it doesn't get any more reverent than the Extraordinary Form. Going off of this blog it looks like it could be the same view of some incoming priests as well.

what does fssp mean? there are a lot of acronyms and I don't know many of them. also whats sspx

FSSP is short term for - The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter
SSPX is short term for - Society of Saint Pius X

FSSP is in full communion with Rome, SSPX is excommunicated (for now).
The SSPX is often referred to as "the Society" so you know it if you run across the term :)

Both work hard to preserve the Sacred Tridentine mass and the pre V2 Traditions.

The reason SSPX is excommunicated is due to their ordainations of bishops without Papal approval.
They oppose certain aspects of V2.

FSSP fully recognise V2.

I wonder, if the relationship between the Catholic Church and the SSPX was fully healed, if they would just then be folded into the FSSP, or if they would remain distinct? Since they both essentially function the same, and with the reconciliation of SSPX there would be (seemingly) nothing doctrinally or practically different between the two.

I believe The sspx excommunication was lifted in 2009 they are in full comunion with rome all be it irregular union. But i stand to be corrected on that

This is from Wikipedia:
Lefebvre died in 1991 as an excommunicated person.[1] In their 2008 petition, the four surviving SSPX bishops "acknowledged the supreme authority of the Holy Father, and noted that 'the current situation causes us much suffering'."[1] In 2009, the Congregation for Bishops remitted the excommunication of the four surviving SSPX bishops.[31] "By definition, their request carried with it an acknowledgement of the Pope's authority over the Church here on earth."[1] Benedict XVI explained that the SSPX has no canonical status in the Catholic Church for doctrinal reasons and that SSPX ministers "do not legitimately exercise any ministry in the Church."[2]

Just been reading the prophecies of anne catherine emmerick again. One part of the prophecys says

“When the Church had been for the most part destroyed by the secret sect, and when only the sanctuary and altar were still standing, I saw the wreckers enter the Church with the Beast. There they met a Woman of noble carriage who seemed to be with child because she walked slowly. At this sight, the enemies were terrorized, and the Beast could not take but another step forward. It projected its neck towards the Woman as if to devour her, but the Woman turned about and bowed down towards the altar, her head touching the ground. Thereupon, I saw the Beast taking to flight towards the sea again, and the enemies were fleeing in the greatest confusion"

Obviously we have appcolyptic langauge here... "the beast" and "the sea"

But also this woman significant. Is it our lady?

I am unsure it could be but in another part she calls our lady the "Mother of God' personally i think it is refering to the church herself. She turns towards the alter (not the people) and the beast flees and the churches enemies will be in great confussion.

Anne Catherine Emmerick says that when these things come to pass very few christians will celebrate mass in the old rite... perhaps this shows the turning point in the church the return to ad orientum as called for by cdn sarah. How often do we hear in the bible of the people of God turning away from him and in the church herself this is exactly what has physically spiritually happened

Is this something that's approved by the Church?

She is beatified... dosnt get much more approved than that other than sainthood itself
She was beatified on personal piety. Writings attributed to her were questioned for authenticity, so were basically discarded in the beatification process.

Ah i did not know that.

Well all i can say is they seem pretty accurate. "I saw the relationship between the two popes" is crazy accurate. Infact the general theme of the prophecy is in accordance with many others but with prophecy often you get snippets of information not contained in others... i find its like a jigsaw puzzle where you take all the peices and try to put them together to make a full picture
