Astonishingly close description to what the Prophet said about them. The Prophet called the khawarij (literally means those who exit - in the religious context it means those who exit the main body of the Muslims) the dogs of Hellfire and commanded the Muslims to fight them and said groups of them would keep popping up until the Day of Judgement. The 'father' of the khawarij, if you will, was a man who told the Prophet to "fear Allaah" to which the Prophet replied, "‘Who will obey Allah if I were to disobey him? Am I not [sent as the] most trustworthy person on earth; and yet you trust me not?"

Many scholars say that ISIS fits the description of the khawarij.

This thread really shouldn't turn into "which religion has been most naughty", should it? I don't doubt all of us but LoveBeingAMuslimah would be on the same page as to which one would win, but that wouldn't change the fact that a priest was killed today. Let's pray instead of arguing.

so you can understand why some of us are incredulous when you say what they have is not "real Islam"
because ISIS says the same thing about people who think like you
the members of ISIS say this is because of Islam

Thank you for being polite even though I know you don't like my religion.

I am working through a lot of anger, grief, and fear too. I have been randomly crying on and off all day triggered by this news (though it's been building up for awhile primarily due to what Assad and allies are doing). I can't imagine what you all, particularly Catholics, must be feeling. I am sorry for your loss.

As I've said for several times here. Deny immigration to all Arab Muslim males from 8 to 40. Likewise, deport the group if possible.

Just my personal experience living in the Middle East for two years. They have a lot of bad apples from that group! Their young to middle-aged men are almost always the problem!

Just offering prayers, I heard of this story, and my heart sunk. I can't believe this is going on, praying for peace...praying for a miracle and for us to not give up hope.

Well I will have to check again ,but in France the news all day long said he had his throat cut ,no beheading . One of the attendees at Mass had theirs cut too ,but survived .
This person is in hospital .

I don't know if the 'your not Catholic 'was at me ,but living in France especially in the last four years has been very depressing with an atheist govt .which does not face up to the fact that when you put God in a box ,(the laicite of France ) gradually but surely, the 'light ' goes dim ,and evil and darkness grows . The tension of the Lie, that it is by poltical means only ,that the solution lies, was terrible . No one spoke of it .
This priest in his death, (martyrdom ) has broken the bad spell ,and opened up the neccessary dialogue ,putting the church in the best light, in comparison -so already God, is using his death to bring France forward .

If you are a Muslim and reading this please read for yourself the Gospel of Jesus with an open mind and heart and see for yourself the true message of Allah our father and his Only begotten Son Jesus Christ.

My post was civil and on point to the topic being discussed. When violence and population percentages are brought up, rates matter. I understand people's base desires to lash out and demonize in response to tragedy, but sober quantification and calculation has to be a part of any response.
