What would you do if someone tried to force you to deny Christ, or Christianity?

Yes. Is fighting back against being arrested or possibly killed in the trib something that is supposed to happen or should we do as Christ did and not resist?

I fully understand what the Bible has to say about that awful time. Because of His Amazing Grace I won't be there. My prayer is that every person on earth comes to understand and accept that Blessed Assurance.

I would say they would have to kill me... but... What if they tortured you?, What would you do then?

I think I would do whatever they wanted if they were going to torture me, so I would probably deny him, and try and make it up to him later...

What would you do?

Comments?

God Bless!

under no circumstance, under no threat of being killed or ANYTHING you can think of will I ever deny My LORD Jesus Christ. To do so would bring something far worse than death by any means you can think of. Death brings heaven which Is my reward! I have given this much thought. I would not just go passively to my death I would fight with all my being! Those who were killed by slitting there necks I wonder why they did not put up a fight rather than just kneel and let those butchers kill them. Nothing is worse than to deny Jesus!

I find it very difficult to believe that a being who is described as being infinitely smarter than we are and infinitely more powerful requires that we suffer horrific torments in order to prove to him that we are really sincere. Sorry.

I live in a free country. Why would anyone try to force me to deny the beliefs I'm entitled to hold by inalienable right?
How would they ever think they could, or could try through those methods you describe, and get away with it?

The torture part? I don't delve into such hypothetical's. I know those who are surviving POW's from Vietnam, and who lost a lot in Iraq, and I don't even think to presume to say how I'd act when they've been there. It's disrespectful. No disrespect intended to you and your question. God Bless.
There are people living in the so-called free countries where human rights are clearly delineated and yet these countries have very self-proclaimed patriotic citizens who would deny others freedom of expression via threatening physical harm. Just the other day one of such Bozos threatened me that way and I live in the USA. Look up USA history and you will be amazed on how the declaration on of human rights was systematically dismissed whenever it was deemed politically expedient to do so.
Are you familiar with the Trail of tears in relation to the Cherokees and the role that president Jackson played in that travesty?
He got away with it very easily.

I agree totally. I am a new creation in Christ! (2 Corinthians 5:17) I can't deny that; it's a fact. If somebody asks me if I'm a male I must say yes, because that's who I am. If somebody asks me how old I am I must say 72, as that is my age. I cannot change who I am, even under the threat of death.

I will never deny Jesus Christ, even in threat of death. I would say what others have said here: I am in Christ, He is my Lord and Saviour. I am a purchased posssession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I belong to Him. I give thanks for this every day.

Erm, are you better that St. Peter who denied him three times?

My statement stands. Many Christians around the world die for their faith in Jesus Christ every day, so they would also be better than Peter if this is the only measurement you want to use.

I admire that missionary, but I have to admit, I don't have his kind of strength...

God Bless!
Jehovah's Witnesses provide many accounts about how they were known to undergo all kinds of tortures in Nazi Concentration camps during WWII because of their refusal to deny their faith and lend support to the Nazi regime. one particular incident that I can't forget is how one JWs woman, too weak from starvation to defend herself, was eaten alive by rats in her cell. Another unforgettable incident is how a male JWs was tied to a chair and pummeled. all his teeth were knocked out and when he was released his friend could not recognize him due to the swelling.

I spoke to a JWs about this and he said that he would simply sign the papers and live to preach another day. He also reasoned that God would not want him dead since then he could not be able to carry out the assigned preaching work. So it was perfectly logical and totally acceptable that he do everything possible to stay alive.

I was amazed since the JWs magazine articles were always profusely praising those JWs who had gladfully endured under severe psychological and physical torture and fervently cited scriptures from the Bible which seemed to support their behavior. In short, they were set as examples of unwavering faith which should be imitated.

Yet this fellow smilingly proclaimed that he would simply comply with the demands and that God would understand.

BTW
When certain JWs expressed doubt about being able to faithfully endure such horrendous treatment, the answer provided was a quotation of the scripture which says that God will not allow you to be tested beyond what you are able to endure.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (ASV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

if it is Christ Who strengthens us, i would be praying to to the One Who strengthens me, asking Him to grant me the strength to do what is necessary, and i would be asking Him to just take me home as quickly as possible, but either way, to grant me what is necessary to bear it.

Some Christians believe that we have been living through the Great Tribulation as described in Mathew 24:14 for the last 100 years.

The great tribulation is shown in Rev 11 and 13 and it is only for 42 months and there are certain things that happen that have never happened so we aren't in the trib nor could it last 100 years anyways.

Are we supposed to fight being arrested/being executed in the tribulation?

This is about the two witnesses which are in the end days (sixth seal)

Revelation 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

So it would appear, yes. Especially if you can breath fire :D

Which no one else can do so how does this apply to those who aren't the two witnesses?

Its probably not wise to assume what I would do in that situation. However, as tired as I am of this world with all its contention, and as my body grows older, I think perhaps I would like to use Paul's example. He gloried in persecution. He wanted to know the power of Christ, through his death and resurrection. Its my wish that if I should find myself in that situation, I would be like Christ, and like Stephan, who said "lord, receive me, and forgive them for they know not what they do"

We deny Christ all the time...without any threat of death.

Why does the denial of Christ only exist in a life threatening situation?

Many deny Christ in their words and actions without intimidation of any kind whatsoever...
