• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. Everyone stumbles, and once you've discovered self injury as a means of release it is pretty hard not to revert back to it when things get to boiling point.

It's hard. The coping measures I use do not produce anywhere near the same level of relief, but they are much less destructive. If I can make it to a year perhaps they will be my first choice, and not the second.

Yeah, it's just tough. Like you said, it's incredibly difficult to find coping mechanisms which are just as effective.

Congratulations, though, on seven months free! I hope that you can make it to a year...I don't even think I've made it to a full year in the 12 or so years since I've been self-injuring.

Yesterday. A lot of noise and voices were building up in my head. (staff edit) Jeepers, I have problems...I'm kind of between meds and doctors right now, but I funneled out so much negative energy through that that I feel ready to start actively taking steps to aide myself, starting with finding a doctor and effective coping mechanisms.

Almost a week ago. If my mother finds out I'm self harming again, she'll just tell me that I'm as immature as a mentally unstable middle school student.

I get almost no support at home, just guilt trips, put downs and condescending attitude.

Think about the sufferings of the Lord Jesus at the Cross, to put everything else into perspective. Isaiah 53 is a good passage to read.

I'm sorry:( It hurts when people don't understand it or joke about it and even worse when it is your own family. You have to stay strong and keeping fighting. You've gotten this far.
