Some people find it hard to believe that Amitabha will grant us Buddhahood as a free gift, if we only chant his name. I am such a messed up person, however, that I find it much, much harder to believe that I could ever attain enlightenment by my own efforts alone. Namu Amida Butsu.

What did you see in the Holy Land?

Baha'is go on pilgrimage to the Baha'i Holy Places around Haifa and Akka in northern Israel... this is usually a nine day tour from the World Administrative Centre of the Faith on Mount Carmel to the spiritual Qiblih of the Faith at Bahji near Akka...

You can see most of the following images during the pilgrimage:

When we visited it was in 1975 it was before many of the structures in the images above were built.

My wife and I visited the Al Jazzar Mosque in Akka and toured the foundations of the Fortress of Akka which were built by the Crusaders... We also visited the Sanctuary of the Carmelite Order on Mount Carmel and two sites reportedly known as the Cave of Elijah.

I suppose for us though meeting some of the Hands of the Cause who were resident in the Holy Land made it a very special pilgrimage.

Some day we hope to make another pilgrimage to see the recent buildings and perhaps we'll tour the Galilee or Jerusalem for a wider pilgrimage.
