• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I apologize for not posting earlier, since I have been busy attempting to rebuild my life. So, to answer some posts, this is a real case, and I haven't preached since early June. However, I think I wasn't clear concerning the ministry where I preach. I am an open-air preacher-evangelist, and I only had a real church for three months. After the first confession a little over a year ago, I stepped down from my position at the church, which caused teh church to close after two more services. I not nly failed in my commitments to my wife, but also to the people who came to eat from the Lord's table. However, my main ministry was preaching on the street, which is where I belong. However, I haven't preached since early June, and my wife and I are still separated. I miss her and love her so much, but I fear our relationship is beyond repair due to my sin. Also, if I do start preaching again, once other open-air preachers learn of this, they will attempt to stop me. I still hoold to my faith, but lately I have not been holy or evangelical with my faith. I believe the confession of a Christian should be published and preached, but currently my confession is onoe of failure and treachery unbecoming of a man of God. Also, I need help and am willing to look at anything in the Bible that I may have missed, because I simply do not know if I can ever preach outside again, but I cannot find a verse that either supports me preaching or prevents me from preaching. This is my dilemma. I do know the Bible, but I am willing to hear other people to determine my next course of action. So, to answer the posts concerning me asking for Scriptures yet a preacher who is supposed to know the word of God, I am seeing if there are Scriptures that have passed under my radar, so to speak, so I can make an educated decision concerning my fate. Also, thank you all for being so kind and helpful. This is a real situation, and I still need to know if and when I can at least preach on the street again. Also, I have agreed to do what I can financially to support my family during this time, and would do anything for my wife and two daughters. Thank you, and may the Lord bless us all with the grace necessary to live another day for His Son, Jesus Christ.

Do you realize that when you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive you, and cleanse you of ALL unrighteousness? That means that if you can confess it, He is practically begging to forgive you of anything! Not only that, but He FORGETS your sin for HIS sake!! I want you to go read Luke 15, and see how the Father sees his son after the son went out and 'messed up'... as far as God is concerned, there's nothing holding you back from being made right with God, as if you've never sinned! The devil is known for taking a person's past, and using it to tear them down spiritually! The Lord has called me to a ministry where I help people out of demonic bondage, and I see it alllllll the time!! He tempts you to sin, you sin, then he uses it to rip and tear you to pieces spiritually, and begins to oppress you!

I want you to read an article on being a forgiven sinner verses a saint: http://www.greatbiblestudy.com/forgiven_sinner_saint.php

And also meditate on these verses: Luke 7:36-50

I also think of King David... if God forgave him back then, before the death of Jesus, how much more is God willing to forgive you as if you've never sinned!! Now that wasn't just adultery my brother, that was MURDER he committed!!

I can tell that you have turned from your sin, and want to be made right again, and that's what it takes to be made right. For God's Word tell us that if we confess our sins, He will forgive us! (1 John 1:9).

God wants to use you, but the devil wants to take your mistake and rub it in so much, that all you see is your sin, and get your eyes off the blood of Jesus! We ALL make mistakes! The goal is turn from them, repent and believe that the blood of Jesus has washed them away!

Look at Peter... he was with Jesus, one of Jesus' favorite disciples, and then denied him 3 times!! THEN look at how much God used him AFTER he turned back to Jesus!!! He became one of the greatest disciples of the NT!!! Don't let Satan stop you from being all you can be for God my brother!!!!

I hope this helps. If you need anything, or would like to talk with me off the forum, please, do not hesitate to PM or email me!

Your brother in Christ,
Bobby

P.S. One time, Kathryn Kuhlman was approached about her being a 'divorced minister'... she told them that she never did that... that old Kathryn died a long time ago! The truth is, when we repent of our sins, they are buried, forgotten, and we are redeemed!! Those sins are no longer a part of you!!

That's it!! When God forgives you... your sins are separated from you as far as the east to the west, and God Himself forgets them!!

After all, if God held us to our pasts, then what's the point in Jesus dying on the cross?

P.S. FallenPreacher, I remember you mentioning confessing the sin before the public. I don't think that's necessary. It could give the enemy even more room to hurt your ministry. The two people I would confess your sin before, is your wife and God. That's it! Why go around talking about dead-deeds? Were they not forgiven? Do you owe the public an apology or something? No!

I am glad to hear that you are repentant and seek to minister for God in the future. Are you familiar with Harvest ministries. They minister to men with sexual addictions. http://www.harvestusa.org/ I believe that you need to focus on your relationship with the Lord and work toward restoring your marriage, if that is at all possible. Healing takes a lot of time, both for you and your wife. I know of no scriptures that say you are forbidden from ever being a preacher in the future. It may be that the Lord may have a different ministry for you in the future, as a result of this problem in your past. Be open to the Holy Spirit's leading. Contact Harvest, and see if you can heal for a while. God bless.

I think that there are a lot of peachers who have fallen to the same sin that you have. Maybe you should let the Lord use you to help other preachers like yourself. This will require you being delivered from the sin, but I KNOW God can change your heart and help you to be strong and resist the devil. God loves to use the broken, so that HE can get all the glory.

You will be surprised at how God will bring peace beyond understanding back into your life. He always has a way of turning a bad situation to good, but you HAVE to let Him use you. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to be with you, to cover you under the blood of Jesus and to deliever you from temptation.

Remember that you are fighting a spiritual war for your soul. The devil doesn't want you to do God's will. He wants you to give up and think that you can't preach anymore. THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! Please know that you can do GREAT things through God. Let the Lord heal you and deliver you from this sin. He CAN and He WILL if you want Him too. It will take time, but you will be a stronger man of God and able to help others. When you overcome this, ask that Gods will be done in your ministry. Humble yourself before the Lord and seek HIS will not your OWN. Let this situation humble you.

The body of Christ needs boldness. Let the Lord use you. I will be praying for your strength and for Gods will do be done in your ministry.

I think he needs to apologize to his congregation and be acountable for his actions. I ran into the same situation when I found out something about my old pastor a few years ago. As a congregation member, I was hurt and confused. He is in a leadership position and NEEDS to be held at a higher standard. His congregation needs to know. He needs to seek forgiveness from them b/c this affects them as well.

Between November last year and last month, I have been visiting escorts, going to strip clubs, and watching inappropriate contentography. During most of this time, I was preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to hundreds of people. I told my family and abandoned them when the guilt became too much to bear. My wife wants me to submit to the authority to a church up north from where I live and undergo their version of restoration, and I am very willing to do so in order to win back her trust as well as her heart. The question I am asking this forum is this: What does the Bible say of my situation? I cannot use David as an example, because his sin occurred in the Old Testament, and I want to know the New Testament answer of how to deal with this sin. Please keep in mind, I believe the Bible forbids divorce, and my wife believes the same thing, so please do not respond with scriptures about divorce. I need help, please. God is good, and he is in control, but I would like to know what the Bible tells me about when preachers commit adultery. I do not want to end up like some other preachers who lose their faith, and I don't want to dissappoint anyone ever again, nor do I want to disappoint God, either; because I do recognize that I have sinned against God when I broke my covenant with my wife (since it is a breaking of God's covenant as well).

Please help. Lord bless you all! :help: :( :sigh:
One thing I have learned in the last 30 years of following Jesus is that God's mercies are greater than his punishment and while yes David is in the Old Testament God is still God yesterday today tomorrow and forever more his grace is still sufficient the blood of Jesus still cleanses and still saves today now you as a pastor and you said you preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ you should not have to ask how to deal with this you should know about God's grace and his forgiveness remember his mercies are greater Denny's punishment
