We never had 'family devotions'. We were hospitable and had many lively conversations around a meal with people that gave our children lots of good information and concepts. We read bible stories at a suitable age level at bedtime and always chatted about the day then and prayed. That was far more natural and life related than a formal 'devotional time'. Both boys are committed Christians as adults with a very robust faith.

Have used 'God and Me' with toddlers and kindergarten kids and this has been a really age appropriate quality resource. It's pretty short what you actually cover each day but you need that with kids under 5. Plus it's colourful and lots of pictures of kids doing things that preschoolers do, so easy to relate to. Haven't used the other resource but we found just reading children's bibles right through a good way to go plus as the kids got older we would read biographies of christian leaders/pioneers to get the kids thinking about what a 'real faith' looks like in practice. These biographies were written for kids ages 7-11.
