I like the individual blessings in the beginning, how common are they in the West Syriac rite? I suppose men have received it before the women and we just got to see the end of it?

Also, what about the text beginning at 49:00? It doesn't sound like the same benediction read from 48:00.

Those are not individual blessings..they are called 'husoyo' (prayers for forgiveness). In order to recieve the holy communion, one must either have confession or recieve husoyo.Requests for prayers, individual blessings and prayers for dearly departed a are written down and submitted, then compiled together and then prayed by the celebrant on knees (as seen from 29:16).

And the texts you referred to are litanies called 'thubden'..there are six of them: 1. for the patriarchs, 2. for christian bretheren, 3. for leaders, 4. for and to the Mother of God and the saints, 5. For departed holy men, 6. For the departed souls. They start from 44:.The priest prays audibly before and inaudibly with them.

Interesting practice... Is it possible to receive a husoyo instead of confession even if they have commited great sins?
