Have to dig up the article, but it seems Atlanta wants to take on the toxic contracts for little return other than absorbing the salary. Then front the veteran for prospects. Seems to me this is a long term vision. Get prospects hand off the veteran player and you keep your team young and lower budget for at least 5 years out.

I'm still waiting on a phone call from them, maybe I should just post my phone number here???

It's a good idea worth trying out. Did not like the comment about limited minor league options remaining for long men in the rotation.

If AJ is doing better than Perez perhaps Perez does some long work from the BP.
Also Hamilton was shut down today for his knee felling funny. Not looking good for him.

Mazara is doing just fine right now and Desmond is hitting the ball well. He was IBB today. Good sign.

Wonder what prompted this? In the mix is now Gimenez is off the 40 man roster. So he will probably end up either back at AAA RR or go back to the A's organization in the minors.

Why bring Wilson back? I have a hunch Hamels likes working with him. The article says Wilson will join the team in Toronto this week. Wonder who gets sent down to AAA RR. Nicholas or Holaday? Why upset the apple cart when things are working?

It's like I said before I think you've seen the last of Josh in the OF, but has the club come to the same conclusion yet??? EDIT: and has Josh came to that conclusion yet???

It's not as if they have a lot of money invested in him so they can wait and see what happens. Maybe Prince will get a bad case of "roids" and have to go on the 60 day DL, they call up Josh and let him DH problem solved (maybe)...

Straight from the horses mouth--- "We've had some trade interest, so I don't think we'll keep Chris," general manager Jeff Daniels said.

So I'm curious as to what they are going to trade him for? More prospects, draft choices or another relief pitcher???

We can take the savings and go after Chris Sale.

You know it will take at least 4-5 prospects if you don't include Profar, Brinson or Gallo in the deal, and at least 3 of them will be pitchers...

Heartbreaker loss last night. Perez did well but only 5 innings. Pen did the job in tight spots then Tolly gives up a dinger to Smoak, extra innings and Smoak gets a walk off HR (2 for the game).

Dyson tossed a 1-2-3 8th and maybe 10 pitches why not have him finish out the game as Tolly is prone to the solo HR.

Too many walks again which means at least 7 base runners in 5 innings, this means more pitching from the stretch which usually causes less control/velocity of pitches...

You know I got to looking at Mazara's stats since he seems to be decent at getting on base and noticed he's batting .538 when leading off an inning...

You thinking what I'm thinking??? Switching him and Odor in the order since Rougie seems to be better at driving in runs???

http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/32820/nomar-Mazara

http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/32170/rougned-odor

I would also be tempted to put Prince in the 3rd slot so Adrian can have his back but that would put 3 LHers in the top 3 slots...

Saw Gallo left the RR game early yesterday. Saw a report he has a strained groin and on the 7 day DL. Great time for him to view some video to keep his upward movement.

Top prospect Joey Gallo will miss the next three to four weeks with a Grade 1 left groin strain, tweets Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Many have wondered at what point the slugger will force Texas’ hand due to not only his excellent batting line but his greatly improved strikeout rate in the minors this season. Gallo is hitting .250/.400/.642 with seven homers in just 85 plate appearances to open the Triple-A season, but most importantly, perhaps, is that he’s struck out a relatively low 21 times in those 85 PAs. A 25 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A wouldn’t necessarily be encouraging for every player, but for a prospect with 80-grade power that whiffed at a 39.5 percent clip in Triple-A last year, the gains are indeed notable. With Adrian Beltre locked up for another two seasons, it’s unlikely that Gallo will settle into his natural position, third base, in the Majors anytime soon. However, Texas could find room for him in the outfield, at first base or at DH later this season, once the groin injury is behind him.
