People want to hear a voice or see a vision and place their faith in those things rather than the simple and clear Word of God. God speaks by His Son through the preaching of the Gospel, Heb. 1:1, and voices and visions are not of Him. We are born by the word not by visions and dreams and voices in our heads.Adam 4d (Ford) doing his thing. Have a gander at his work.
I think God uses actions to speak...He doesn't have to use words. He communicates to us in the best way for us to understand and respond according to His will.
As it is written...
God has primarily chosen to reveal His will to us through the written word.
(Heb 1:1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,I think God uses actions to speak...He doesn't have to use words. He communicates to us in the best way for us to understand and respond according to His will.
He moves the heart by the word. The Spirit speaks by the word. We are born again by the word.Im not saying He never did speak to people, Im just saying He uses other methods/actions as well. See all the verses of God moving someone's heart.
He moves the heart by the word. The Spirit speaks by the word. We are born again by the word.
(1Pe 1:23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
(Heb 4:12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
So you don't believe God speaks to His people today except through scripture?
What I believe the Scriptures are fairly clear on is that God speaks by the preaching of His word.So you don't believe God speaks to His people today except through scripture?
Would you be dismissive if I told you God has spoken to me?I've never known a person in this age who has audibly heard God speak. Not saying He doesn't or couldn't...I've just never known of it.
Yes the Lord Jesus is the Logos or Word but we also know that since He is the express image of God and the Scriptures are about Him then the preaching of Christ from the word is preaching the word. Paul told Timothy to preach the word. Peter tells us that we have a more sure word of prophecy that is to be believed above even such things as they saw and heard on the mount. He tells us that it is the Scriptures. So yes Christ is the Word but the word is also Christ.I understand that the "Word" in context is literally Christ.
Revelation 19:13
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.
Yes He did in the Old Testament but now, according to Heb. 1:1-3 which I gave above, He has spoken in His Son.I can agree with that, twin. He does speak in visions and dreams though:
Numbers 12:6
he said, “Listen to my words: “When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.
