Also, why would we have and need gravity if the earth was not round, but flat. Note that no gravity is in outer space, but it is here on earth.

Strictly speaking, gravity exists everywhere. But gravity is observed based on the mass of the object. If there is a mass near enough to another mass in space, there gravitational fields interact in an observable manner. If there is no masses near enough, then it appears that there is no gravity, but gravity is still present.

I don't know.

If you're a fundamentalist and truly belief the bible as the literal word of God, which I do, you should acknowledge that the world is flat.

I'm not going to argue it, but there is a large amount of evidence on google or youtube, and its just common sense.

How can you say you take the bible literally and believe we're some random planet spinning around the sun, in the galaxy, in the universe. Its a lie. We are stationary and not moving. A flat circle, surrounded in a firmament, as described in Genesis, with heaven above, and hell below.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Oh you're actually serious? Well let me explain how you're so full of crap. We have documentation that we or orbiting the sun in a solar system in a galaxy in the universe. Also if the earth was a flat circle as you so foolishly believe then how would you explain plate tectonics, sunrises and sunsets, the magnetic fields and gravity? You're basically living in a fantasy world aren't you? It's really quite pathetic but there is more scientific proof AGAINST your "theory" that for it. Maybe you'd like to try doing something amazing and read a scientific journal. I hear they have lots of facts backed up by years or even decades of painstaking research. I honestly weep for our species if is the sort of crap that people honestly believe.

Um ... he was serious?

I live in a Fundamentalist Christian Bible community way up in the mountains of Western NC which didn't even have electricity until 1995 and we never heard the Earth was flat!

You should have seen what happened last year when we got internet service. Best Buy thought the Mennonites were invading.

If he said the Earth was flat around here and actually meant it, he'd be over at Sister Ann's house for some of her "tonic."

All good things,
Emmy

What are some of those observed facts? I've never seen the curvature of the Earth in my life, never felt in spinning, and never felt it moving, I've never observed any of it. All of the pictures of the Earth from space are fake, every last one. The pictures from the moon have no stars in them. Cities can be seen from hundreds of miles away when the "curvature" of the earth should have them hundreds of feet underwater. The uyuni salt flats are 100 miles of complete flatness, that is impossible on a globe earth. Are you telling me you really believe that 8000 miles below you there is someone upside down....Cause I sure don't. Again, there is tons of evidence proving the flat earth, I would recommend looking it up on youtube or google if interested.. I don't really feel like arguing.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry...or both. What silliness. You make these crazy claims, then demand evidence, but, oh, pictures from space are not allowed (they are all "fake"), pictures from the moon are not allowed (they, too, are all "fake"), your perception is the only one that matters, and YouTube is now acceptable scientific research.

Right.

Its a lie. We are stationary and not moving. A flat circle, surrounded in a firmament, as described in Genesis, with heaven above, and hell below.

Go out side, look up, what do you see? The heavens. Look down, what do you see? The ground. One person has said in a vision they saw hell in the earth. Below.

Spherical earth follows genesis. You are just interpreting it wrong.

Yes, that is literal biblical cosmology. Sadly, it does not conform to the observed facts of nature. I will go with the record God left in nature rather than the words of human authors from almost 3000 years ago.
Not what the Bible says. Isaiah 40.22 speaks of 'the circle of the earth'.

Sorry to break the news to you....the earth is round.

Here is proof that the earth is round.

Notice that it looks upside down? Its because you are literally looking at the moon upside down while in the southern hemisphere. Any questions?

A sphere is not a circle? Its definately not a square. Nor a triangle. Circle sounds fine to me.

A circle is a plane figure whereas a sphere is a three dimensional figure. The "circle of the earth" refers to the circle meets the dome of the firmament.

So you're taking the fact that they used circle to mean round instead of sphere which probably wasn't a word for them to come up with a conspiracy theory that just doesn't work?

Tell me, then, in this flat earth of yours why can we go from the east coast of the US to get to europe and go from the west coast to get to Asia when Asia and Europe is connected?

What is your explanatiom for people who sail around the world? How about the thousands of mautical charts I used to sell so people could travel around this globe you say doesn't exist?

Is everyone in the world in on this conspiracy except you?

If you're a fundamentalist and truly belief the bible as the literal word of God, which I do, you should acknowledge that the world is flat.
I think you should also test everything.
I.m.o. the world is like it is described in the Bible from God's point of view, put in comprehensible wording for the reader.
It is consistent throughout Scripture though, but the physical evidence is consistent with a sphere.
Sorry..
I'm not going to argue it, but there is a large amount of evidence on google or youtube, and its just common sense.
No it is not, and the evidence is poor if not misunderstood.
The latitudinal distances around the south pole would be humongous, and they're not in physical reality.
How can you say you take the bible literally and believe we're some random planet spinning around the sun, in the galaxy, in the universe. Its a lie.
We seem to be in the centre of the universe though.
We are stationary and not moving. A flat circle, surrounded in a firmament, as described in Genesis, with heaven above, and hell below.
Opinions like yours and the refusal to test them makes creationists look like morons, and only add to the reasons to dismiss Jesus Christ.

This is what I'm hearing. "Somebody wrote something that I think means something that is not true so what I think is not true must be the truth! It's a conspiracy I tell you, a conspiracy!"

You know that if you take a picture of the moon, then spin around 180 degrees and take a picture the moon is upside down?

Haha awesome. I haven't found it in the Bible yet that the world was flat, but if I really saw it in there, I might believe it even.

God did pull me up into the heavens once, I got to see Earth from above. It was round. I do not recall if it was flat, though, but I saw it, and it was round like I had always been shown. When I saw the universe though, that was amazing. God showed me that the Earth was in the dead-center middle of the universe... but I had no idea that science had already discovered this in the WMAP data. Study the "axis of evil" in the WMAP data. ;) They figured out there is a big X going through the entire universe, and this big X is centered on the Earth.

Having seen the universe, I have some idea why it was a big X like this, has to do with galaxy arrangements, but I'm not sure if science has figured that out yet.

But when I got up to heaven and saw the Father in a vision, that was the big thing! He wore the whole universe like a cloak. And I was a lost person seeing this!!! I had no idea it was in the Bible, blew my mind when I read it: Hebrews 1:10-12

And then when I told Christians, they all balked, "No man has seen God!" :p They're fools and didn't bother reading the whole council of God: All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. - Matthew 11:27

You can see Jehova just fine if Christ chooses to reveal him to you, which is what happened.

But I personally, based on that vision, and that scripture says the Earth is round, I understand that the word "round" can refer to a circle, or a 3d ball shape. Round has no preference for 3d round or 2d round. I can say a ball is round.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. - Isaiah 40:22

Circle: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H2329&t=KJV

If you look at the Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon, the word includes sphere.

Why people interpreted circle or round as flat, is a tradition of man, not God.

That said, I follow the geo-centric model for creation and the position of the Earth, but this is a complicated topic, because there are multiple ways geo-centricity could be real.
