What clever invention are you thankful for?

Im thinking, thank God for washing machines as I can just chuck a load in the wash without having to do it all by hand like they did in the old days. It would have taken the whole day..and I saw the suffragette movie, all those servant girls and washer women working in those horrible conditions for the upper classes. I have been spared that life.

I am thankful today for...automatic cars.
I learned on a manual, and took ages to learn. But I wasn't so good at remembering gear changes, and would always worry if I was in the right gear. So thank you Lord for whoever invented automatic transmission.

Planes, trains and submarines...well more of the former. Walking is terrible and going from point A to point B is now easier.

Submarines? I don't know anybody who takes the submarine from A to B...I don't think we even have them here. Although, there is a travelator at the aquarium for people too lazy to walk around it. Underneath the sea.

you can tell if you should be in a different gear by how the engine sounds.
few exceptions to that but (like going down a long hill, etc).

Plastic is a wonderful development/invention. Just wish it was more biodegradable for some uses.

I prefer rubber.
Plastic cracks but rubber is bendy.

If you can't hear the car's engine over you music then you're listening to it far too loudly.

I've actually never driven an automatic. Yes, changing gears can take some time to get used to, but after driving for a while it basically becomes second nature and you know without thinking about it what the car sounds like when it's in the wrong gear and the range of speeds that each gear is appropriate for.

Today am thankful for this tablet, cos laptops arent truly portable and you cant type on them lying down on the bed.
Although...should I be worried that i am subtly being radiated through the touch screen? Becuase apparently cellular phones were linked with cancer..and maybe tablets also give off lots of eletromagnetic radiation. We were warned never to sit too close to a television, but it might have been because it usually earblasted us with rubbish advertising.

Today I am thankful for the teabag.

it means I don't need to use a tea strainer to fish out leaves in my tea. Also, I don't need to measure tea out with a tea spoon, or even use a tea pot. Just boil water in a kettle, or really hot water, pour into a cup and voila, instant tea!

I much prefer auto. The only two downsides though are fuel economy, and the increased risk of speeding. Besides that, I personally don't see any advantages to the stick.

Mind you, that said, I am very busy person mentally. I find clutch control, gear shifting, and finding the 'biting point' a bit too much of a challenge, when I spend most of my time wondering how many individual grains of flour I'd need to make up the size of the sun...
