We can always do what alot of spanish want and not only have the song sang in spanish (after its sung in english) but also display some sort of spanish flag too. >.>
Why would people in Spain care about our national anthem?

Oh... you mean Hispanics...

No. The Star Spangled Banner expresses respect and touches on the history of how this nation came to be and therein have a national anthem.

I thought Lady Gaga did an awesome job at the Super Bowl. And even better that she appears to have set aside the ridiculous public persona she use to put on so as to make that take center stage rather than let her voice be heard. So many acts out there are rich because of auto tune when they couldn't carry a tune to save their life. I love a true gifted vocalist showing their stuff live.

What I find odd are those who are atheist saying they'd be fine with America the Beautiful. Maybe they don't know the lyrics so as to support a song that gives praise to what they argue isn't there. ;)
Or, maybe some of us just don't make as big a deal out of "God stuff" add you'd probably like to think we do.

I personally enjoy the tune of America the Beautiful more than the Star Spangled Banner. I also like that the song doesn't really focus on glorifying war or the flag but instead, the country itself.

It is certainly easier to sing. America the Beautiful covers a range of one octive plus one note. The Star Spangled Banner has a range of almost two octives. The people who are calling for keeping it a) don't bother singing it; b) sing it, but do so very poorly, or 3) are blessed with very good voices.

I realized that after I posted the poll. So sorry, some of us are not perfect and do make mistakes. No "bait and switch" was intended. Of course you could always check the choice of "other" and then list the Statr Spangled Banner in your post as others have done.
I don't believe that. The poll question asks what the replacement ought to be.

Contrary to what you say here, that category ("other") doesn't mean "What anthem do you favor?" but, instead, "What other anthem should be the one we replace the Star Spangled Banner with?" And still, the Star Spangled Banner leads in the voting because people used that option to convey their own meaning. Yes, I agree that that's an interesting development, considering all.

No, it was my intention to include keeping what we have as an option. You can believe what you want. I don't appreciate being called a liar.

IF it were changed I like America the Beautiful. But I'd rather leave it the same SSB. She was a......3) are blessed with very good voices.

Yes, but what about you. A national anthem should be a song taht can be sung by the people, not just by professionals.

That's great! There was a time when I could do that, up to about 6th grade. Now I have to sing the bass part, which gets me some funny looks at baseball games.

Of course if we want a song that truly represents america from its politics to its actions...etc we can use my fav classic song:

I can never hear that song and manage not to laugh. It just cracks me up--as does trying to whistle with others the theme song from Bridge Over the River Kwai. I always would be the person to mess it up due to cracking up. Ah, well.

Anyway, the SSB is one of the better ones. By national anthem standards it is not overly jingoistic or glorifying of war (some nations' anthems are ridiculous in that regard),

QFT. The lyrics to La Marseillaise mention watering fields with blood, and enemy soldiers cutting throats. Though I gotta admit, it is my favorite national anthem, and definitely the most stirring.
