Through Jesus, She Is: Protected
Day 16
Daily Verse:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
Daily Devo:
Because we live in a world where we see people from the outside, when it comes to our faith, it can start to seem like everyone we go to church has their lives together (at least they think they do). It can start to seem like even though your Christian friends might have gone through things, none of them can relate to what YOU'RE going through. If you have Christian parents or mentors, it may seem like they've reached this certain level of spiritual maturity where they don't have weaknesses anymore.
But this is not true at all.
As the Apostle Paul told his story to the Corinthian church in today's passage, he too had weakness. Even though he was a man called by God who had devoted his life to the cause of Christ (even if it meant imprisonment), he still wasn't a perfect believer. He still had to see that it was by the amazing grace of God, it was Christ's power that rested upon him that made him worth something. It was only Jesus that could make him who he was supposed to be and this was only possible because of God's grace.
God's grace is written all over your life, too. It doesn't matter how many times you've messed up or how often you feel like your story doesn't blend in with the stories of all your Christian friends, it is only God's perfect grace manifested through Jesus Christ that is going to set the record straight in your life. You can't do it on your own, and there's no need to try!
There is far too much pressure on women to try and look as if they have it all together. But that's not the version of you that God wants. Through Jesus, God wants to pour out His grace on the imperfect version of you...the real you. Let His perfect grace find you right where you are.
