Hi there. I'm new here. I saw this section and decided to join in the reading. I particularly liked the last verse: In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. (ESV) The NIV version is especially beautiful: In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.

3 The roots of the righteous will never be moved.
4 A capable wife is a crown for her husband.
5 The plans of the righteous are just.
6 The speech of the upright rescues them.
7 The house of the upright endures.
8 A person wins praise in keeping with his common sense.
9 Better to be despised and have a servant.
10 A righteous man takes care of his animal.
11 He who farms his land will have plenty of food.
12 The root of the righteous gives forth of itself.
13 The righteous finds a way out of trouble.
14 One can be filled with good as the result of one's words, and one gets the reward one's deeds deserve.
15 The wise pay attention to advice.
16 A cautious person slighted conceals his feelings.
17 He who tells the truth furthers justice.
18 The tongue of the wise can heal.
19 Truthful words will stand forever.
20 For those advising peace there is joy.
21 No harm can come to the righteous.
22 Those who deal faithfully are his delight.
23 A cautious person conceals knowledge.
24 The diligent will rule.
25 Anxiety in a person's heart weighs him down, but a kind word cheers him up.
26 The righteous guides his friend's way rightly.
27 When a man is diligent, his wealth is precious.
28 In the road of righteousness is life; no death is in its pathway.
I cheated and took out the negative things.....I like this!

Pro 12:16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

Pro 12:23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

I'm very thankful to have read this chapter today, just what I needed to hear.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. - Proverbs 12:10

I believe in three phases of Christian growth...

1. Salvation - As simple as believing on the Christ
2. Sanctification - Comes with a sweet spirit and a love for the word of God
3. The Witness of the Spirit - Sanctification paves the way for the Holy Spirit to come in and set up shop!

A story is given about a man seeking sanctification this Wesleyan way (which in its time was more than likely called 'getting religion'). The man spends his afternoon plowing in which his horses did not want to plow straight wind rows, he then gets angry and begins to whip his horse. His wife then hollers out the door, "Not yet honey! Not yet!" When you get sanctified, or become righteous, in this manner the first ones to know about it will be the family pets... Instead of kicking them you will rub them and show a little warmth and love.

In reading Proverbs 12, verse 6 stood out for me.

"The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them."

This reminds me of verses where we are admonished to speak out for and defend those who cannot speak out for and defend themselves:

"If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;" ~Proverbs 24:11

verse 1
To learn you must want to be taught; to refuse reproof is stupid.

The Life Application Bible has a good comment on this verse...
'You can go to school for years and learn nothing. But if you want to be taught, there is no end to what you can learn. Part of wanting to be taught is being willing to accept correction and to learn from the wisdom of others. A person who refuses criticism has a problem with pride. Such a person is unlikely to learn much'.

In reading Proverbs 12, verse 25 stood out for me:

"Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."

This means that words of encouragement, and kindness to those burdened, literally relieve heavy burdens from the ones soooo weighed down, and gladdens their heart and soul.

Reminds me of this verse:

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." ~Proverbs 25:11

and this verse from Isaiah:

"The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: " ~Isaiah 50:5

Our God is a precious Teacher, Shepherd, and Father.

He teaches us how to be ministering saints to one another (and to those dear ones who do not know Him "yet")

Precious.

In reading Proverbs 12, this verse stood out for me.

 It is in blessing others that we are blessed. Having a heart for others suffering, in pain, and/or discouraged is what pleases God, for we are being vessels then, that He freely works through.

In essence, when we are blessing others, and demonstrating love and grace, we are blessing our heavenly Father's heart.

How precious is THAT??!!
