yep, currently 33 degrees (about 1 C) and on it's way downward.
i took a pic of my birdbath. it has the strangest ice in it!
the water is freezing in a way that it's trapping tiny air bubbles (about the size of a pin head) beneith the surface
as the water turns to ice.
pretty cool!
first time i've seen that!
(usually it just freezes to a clear solid hunk of ice.)

I'm watching a political debate. We have a wee election in two weeks time...
debates are always interesting---especially the ones for the local races!
i remember years ago when we had a county race for Proscecuting Attorney (what you in the UK call "Queen's council", i believe).
any way the newbie guy who was running had a 2 part platform;
1. see that there was adequate protection for abused spouses in the county
(the next county over had several murdered spouses because the police couldn't get there in time.)
2. meet and greet everyone--quite literally--in the county.
he won. and held the job for many years as well, based upon that platform and how he kept his promises.
