So are you saying its subjective to interpretation?

Matthew 13:34-36New International Version (NIV)
34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. 35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:

“I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”

The Parable of the Weeds Explained
36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

""""Some things do need explaining. """" But most of the answers about God are in the bible if you search for it.

So everyone interprets the stories differently?
Some things are obvious. Something are not.
Luke 4
He stood up to read,17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.

It's obvious Jesus wants to set the captives free.

As far as I can see, atheism doesn't provide you with any sort of objective grounding for what you might consider moral.

Some things are obvious. Something are not

Seems that you two have a bit of a disagreement based on your subjective interpretations..^_^

No your confused. AIKI and I, are talking about two different things.
He's talking about, atheism not having objective morals
I'm talking about interpreting the bible.
They are two different subjects
But this is the cornerstone of Christianity(the foundation). It is obvious. If anyone doesn't interpret that right there not Christians.
John 3:16New International Version (NIV) Jesus said:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

In the context of this discussion they are not really different. Since the claimed "objective Christian morals" are the direct result of someone's interpretation of the bible, and since interpretation is a subjective process, then there's no way the morals can be objective. The only conclusion one could make is that Christian morals are the result of subjective interpretation of the bible.
Evidence of this subjectivity is seen in every corner of Christianity and in every time frame from current events to as far back in history as we can go. In fact, evolution of these subjectively interpreted morals continues to this day.

Its been an interesting conversation. Thank you very much for your time and input.

:wave:That's ok. It's a forum. Glad your in enjoying it lol.

Jesus and the New Testament have made absolute truth claims that can't be misinterpreted therefore they are not subjective. They are different to Islam and the Old Testament.
Symbolic statements, Prophecies, Parables, which there are many in the New testament can be misinterpreted or are subjective.

John 14:5-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

This is absolute objective truth claim.

I'll make an absolute truth claim.
Christ doesn't want Christians to enslave people or advocate slavery.

Christians who have done that will have stand up before God and explain why they have done that.

You said """then there's no way the morals can be objective."""

Coming from your position I have issues with you saying that.
when you say morals. That is: What is good and evil, you are actually advocating an objective God.
This what you should be saying. There isn't morals, there's ethics( society and circumstances rules ) and it's just every bodies subjective opinion.
But if this is the case then it's all relative and you have your life span. Life is meaningless and some people have better circumstances and less suffering than others and some get to make all the rules.
