While we were in Hawai'i, we tried out Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor,
I visited the West Oahu CC when my daughter & SIL lived there in Eva Beach. It was very enjoyable. (I was the only one there in a coat and tie)

Bless yer heart (((hug)))

He has quite a legacy. He started Calvary Chapel, didn't he?

I was listening to him the other morning and he was speaking on the Old Testament. I was riveted. He KNEW his stuff.

chuck smith wanted to be a doctor, but God called him to start a "little country church."

he was raised four square, and started I think a four square, but then in the Jesus movement days, he quite that denomination to start a non denomination, called the first calvary chapel.

but not sure it was calvary chapel at first, ....

Hi, I attend a Lutheran Church also but I attended Calvary Chapel for 10 years. I also went to the Bible College in Murrieta, CA. Calvary is a very good church.

I have attended the following Churches:

Calvary Chapel Boise Idaho
Calvary Chapel Caldwell Idaho
Harvest Christian Fellowship (Riverside - Greg Laurie)
Maranatha San Diego (Mike Macintosh)
Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (back when Chuck Smith was Pastor)
Calvary Chapel Wildomar
Calvary Chapel Laguna Beach

Welcome to everyone from Calvary Chapel, I look forward to conversing with you.

I remember mike macintosh's testimony where he was strung out on drugs on haight /ashbury in san fransicso.

I think if I am not mistaken.

He walked around asking people if he had a hole in his head after hearing a misfire on a car.....

something to that affect.

He thought he was shot, because he was drugged up.

Jesus got ahold of him, and used chuck smith in his live to disciple him.

he started a cool ministry called 1-800-HIT HOME, youth crisis hotline.

I served on that line for several months.

boy the stories I could tell.

that hotline, changed my life, and I was basically naive to the world before that, eye opener.

When we checked out the pearl church, my wife was a relatively new believer and the pastor was preaching in Revelation 20. I think it was just an overwhelming introduction to CC!

Bad timing.

but later on, as I grew, revelation was one of my favorite books.

becausee we know now, how the book ends.

and we win.

never been to a calvary chapel that had a dress code.

very unique in that manner, many go in shorts in summer, and tank tops.

It's a fantastic study in the glory and holiness of God, but it's admittedly a little intimidating to the newborn babe in Christ still overwhelmed with it all.

I'm doing a thorough study of Ezekiel in my private devotions now and am really appreciating the parallels with Revelation.

Yeah - at the one there, the pastor, lead singer and all the musicians on the platform wore sandals, shorts and "Aloha" shirts.

I recently returned to my Calvary Chapel fellowship after being away for a few years. I felt I was being called to another church (a totally different denomination), but after attending services at the other church for a while, I realized that I missed "home" and that it wasn't for me. The welcome back I got was unbelievable; it was like I never left. Anyway, it's great to be back.
I attend a fellowship in Central Texas.

I just wanted to start a welcome thread for my fellow Calvary Chapel members here at CF. It's good to finally have a congregational forum that I can call home. :)

Thank you, Sojourner1, I assume you pushed for this forum. Even though I currently attend a UMC, I will always consider Calvary Chapel as home. I went to the one in Grand Rapids, MI for about ten years soon after becoming a Christian, and I also got an Associate from CCBC in Murietta. Those have been the best years of my life so far. I also owe CSN a great debt, as I got saved listening to a Harvest Crusade on the radio. RIP, Chuck Smith... we miss you.
