As we approach Lent, what does repentence mean to you?

Metanoia, to change one's mind, to change course, to improve and move closer to God.

Not that I observe Lent, but I here is the answer from the Baptist Catechism:
Repentance unto life is a saving grace, whereby a sinner,
out of a true sense of his sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ,
does, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God,
with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.

Acts of the Apostles 2:37; Joel 2:13; Jeremiah 31:18, 19; 2 Corinthians 7:10-11; Romans 6:18

Repentance means that one regrets something that he has done wrongly. And repentance includes idea that person wants to improve and become better and reject the wrong acts that he regret.

If I am being totally honest, it means other people should be sorry for the way they treat me.

:)
Does this mean you'll be putting ash on the foreheads of these people? :ahah:

Interestingly the Orthodox do not impose ashes. The RCs use, or used to use, the ashes of palm fronds from Palm Sunday.

About 15 years ago, my boss at work had something smeared on his forehead. I was about to point it out to him but out of the blue it suddenly came to me that it was Ash Wednesday! Phew!

Repentance means to never do that again. If you do it again, you didn't truly repent.

No, that is not standard Christian teaching. As with Paul, the good we want to do we do not, and the bad we want not to do, that we do, over and over.

The easy sins are easily stopped, but our besetting sins will take longer, and we all have them.

Yes, RC and Anglican use the ashes from last year's palm crosses, mixed with anointing oil.
